It's a deep QB class, so let's look there first.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That means you can take a talented QB in later rounds.

This team needs a CB. Hayden and Annette sucked.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I’m with it, but we need Offensive lineman bad, but yeah other than a couple trenchworkers why not go all Defense

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Beef up our o-line and replace Peters and I think we are a real problem for the league

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

AOC is still the QB in this league terrifying scenario?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

We need to draft a QB if we don’t wanna lose Tae. AOC is already 25 and he’s not shown me enough. I think he can be serviceable but we need more than that to turn this franchise around.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why not? He’s completes passes at a pretty good percentage, showed a few games, really good percentage. A better OL keeps the pocket cleaner for him. Better play calling/playbook should help too. I think a mix of Andre James funny snaps and Mack being red hot contributes to the fumbles vs chargers. A few of the picks he has were great plays by the D, esp the Ramsey pick yesterday. And if Tucker was 3-5” taller he stops that or snatches it himself as he could take a different angle or aoc could throw it a bit higher. Also, tucker needs to go to the ball more not sit on passes, which he’ll learn. I am definitely not saying he’ll be Gannon, Stabler. I don’t think anything is pointing that he’ll be JaMarcus or A. Walter. Could he be a Brad Johnson or Steve McNair type, good game manager with an ok deep ball when needed? There have been plenty of QBs that didn’t terrorize the league themselves that at made a SB on the back of a great D and run game. Dilfer won a SB with that crazy Ravens D, a great run game. He just had to not fumble or throw a pick. Brad Johnson similar on that team I will not speak of. Matt Hasselback (lost but made it to SB) Basically russell Wilson as he was unknown and had legion of boom, beast mode, good enough OL. Rex Grossman made the SB on the Bears great D. Brady the first few you could make an argument it was mainly D that got them there.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

This is all good, wise insight from an old head like me. Having a McNair would be fucking deadly with our team.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Thank you. D looks better than it has in a long time, but our O-line is pathetic.

The Raiders have neglected the DT position for 15 years. It's time to draft a stud there.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

We passed up on Jalen Carter.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

you seriously are like the 1000th person on this sub that forgets he killed someone in while under the influence. cant blame gruyock for not touching him with a 10ft pole

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Too many 1st round DBs. Not enough pass rushers (Ferrell and Wilson don't count), not enough high picks on QB either. (1 QB in the top 10 overall in 60 years.)

Seems so simple, yet people always want to pigeonhole a position, don't they?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It feels like it would be easier to build a defense than an offense right now. QBs are so hit and miss in the draft, hard to gauge success in the NFL. We def need a better o-line to help a rookie QB succeed out of the gate.

I like focusing on an even more elite defense. You got to think AOC will get better. I imagine by the end of the season the coaching staff and us will be sure of what we have with AOC

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Jury's out on AOC, maybe he adapts, maybe he doesn't. We have to swing it with him for the season anyway bc Jimmy and Hoyer aren't options, tho. If AOC ain't it, then we get a higher draft pick due to that and we go with a higher upside QB.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I feel like we can get caught up in this trap chasing QBs… hope we can also solidify an Oline and get better on defense which seems to be our identity at the moment.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

If by D you mean OLine then yes I agree completely

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

the defense is good. yes add some pieces but we need help on offense or it doesn’t matter how good the defense is. take a look at the jets this year. elite defense. offense isn’t good. it doesn’t work out anymore to have only a defense. stop.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

O line needs to come first. We lost 1 guy and that cooked us. Not good.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah we should get a DE who can actually play professional snaps

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Trade for Justin Fields (Bears are taking a QB), build up defense

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago
[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

QB in the first and D rest of the way

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I mean, people said the same thing last year, but it appears we got a great player with Mayer in round 2. Bottom line is we need to draft good players. I wouldn't be sad at all if we have a great defensive draft next year but we also need OL bigtime, and honestly other than TE I would say the whole offense is open for help in the draft.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

100% let’s build a top 3 defense.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

We should draft O-line, and defensive backs. Lots of both…

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Please move up if you have to and get the QB of the future. No more mediocrity behind center. AOC seems like a good kid. He doesn’t have the X factor that the elite QBs have. And he’d be a killer backup. But this team is looking at another .500 season next year if they roll in with AOC or any of the free agent QBs. The NFL rules are rigged in favor of the offense. The Raiders need a QB.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Defense and O-line! Need a guard and a right tackle.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

In my mind raiders do this. Round 1 QB, round 2 DB, round 3 RB( realistically I think you have to trade jacobs) then spam defense and O line. Fill in holes with free agency with a few vets.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

My thoughts are:

DT/CB in the 1st QB in the 2nd OT/OG in the 3rd Build out some quality depth in the later rounds

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

as a fan of the NFL with no ties to any team

i think you all should beef up defense, i feel like having a really great unit and and mid to bad unit is better than having 2 mid offense and defense

beefing up OL not a bad idea either

get a CB and you guys are a serviceable team on defense.

sign a former failed QB or something and have him jimmy g and AOC compete for next season and just ride out that QB play

trade adams for FRPs

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Still need a QB. And an oline. We’re not a piece or two away from being elite. But the NFL is set up to where you can get in the dance despite that because of schedule and the amount of mediocrity in the middle.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Nah we need a right tackle and at least a guard.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago
[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I agree. Are there some decent CB's in this draft? Hell I say go CB and then DT...or vice versa.

Also keep AP and Graham if we keep being competitive the remainder of the year... I say if we finish 8-9 or 9-8. You keep Antonio Pierce , Graham, and Champ Kelly as the GM.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I agree. Build an absolute juggernaut on D build a wall in front of the QB. That's how dynasties are built

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

i say draft a solid guard and tackle, and then spend the rest on D

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Need a R1 qb tbh, then rest of the draft we can fill holes

But we gotta draft a R1 qb this year man. Unless Aiden starts truly balling out the rest of the year then there's 0 reason not to
