Kind of a win win situation. If we win we win. Great. If we lose we get better draft positioning. Great. Moving on from McDaniels was already a W move by this team this season. There’s no expectations. This is the first time in a while we can all just be fans and enjoy the Raiders play.
Las Vegas Raiders
It’s been a couple years since I could literally enjoy watching this team win or lose. Is this how other fans feel generally? I mean I want us to win. But the fact we are competitive regardless is a real breath of fresh air. And instead of sitting here cursing the coaching or the play calls or the refs I’m thinking “damn we didn’t fucking suck complete ass”
Edit: I still curse all those things, but it just feels different. Hopium is a helluva drug frens
I sometimes describe the Raiders season as:
- Hope phase (often…preseason)
- False hope phase (when it’s clear we’re not great but still hope it’ll get better)
- Lost hope phase (“ehhhh next year”)
Rn I’m just still feeling joy that McDaniels is gone and wow we’re not terrible. Feels strange…
It's better to be on Hopium instead of Copium.
Right attitude. All I wanted was to move from McD and we have done that. Any wins are just icing in the cake. Next year we can develop our own playbook and style and then motive on personnel as needed. This is a easy second half of the season as a Raider fan. ☠️🏈💪
We lost to a future division winning playoff team that was the 1st team to hang 70 points on anyone since the 60s...by 1 score. Pretty much every media pundit out there had them putting up 40 points. We held them to 20 and brought it down to their all-pro, probably future hall of fame CB, picking it off...
The only people that are mad, don't actually understand how important it was for us to just play a CLOSE game against a great offense with a top 10 defense.
Now that team that gave up 70 and lost by 50 is ahead of us in the standings. NFL, you crazy!
We're far from a rebuild or anything near that, we need to stop tearing down and starting over, it's taken this long to get a top 20 defense.
Draft and trade well in free agency, keep stacking on what we have and if we hit on o-line, d-line, and DBs we'll be fine, can address QB later...
I’d rather have a loss to a good dolphins team than a loss to an abysmal bears team. The playcalling is better. Even just challenging that first fumble was something McDumbbitch would have never done. That doofus really set the bar low, but at the same time AP still has a learning curve to go through. The team just feels better and I also feel like we have Raiders culture back, as cheesy as that sounds. The corporate faux patriots shit was driving me insane.
Same post from the last 10 years.
But this time it’s different
right?
And people still equate moving up a few spots with definitely getting a better player. Without looking I can guarantee if we swapped the player we took with our first round picks with the team 5-6 spots behind us every year we'd have had more success the past two decades.
Everyone freaked out because the Texans lost their 1st pick to Carolina...turned out to be the best thing they could have done.
The draft is way too much of a crapshoot to care about moving up a few spots. I'd rather win games.
Another lets “tank” post. Oh lord. Losing helps no one. Literally.
It’s about to be full rebuild mode. New qb. Josh Jacobs most likely gone and Adams has one year left on his deal
What?
We lost by 7 to the best offense in the league on a rookie's 4th start. I'll take that. You can't win them all and this is one I wouldn't have marked as a W on the calendar. I just can't wait to see how this energized defense handles Kelce.
That's what I've been saying since yesterday. We were all expecting a blow out, but they took it down to the last play.
The time for tanking is over. We need to evaluate our current coaching staff and see if they’re worth bringing back. It’s amazing how the media and many fans seem ready to give AP the job as if he’s fully earned it.
Win as many games as possible and hope for the longshot 10-7 which I actually wouldn’t be surprised by.
If we really want a top QB, try and trade up. We aren’t getting a top 5 pick on our own. There is a world where Chicago trades the #1 pick for a ransom if Fields looks good enough
Otherwise, maybe we grab BPA or take a Bo Nix/Jayden Daniels in the 10-20
I’d rather the current players get a taste for winning than cross our fingers on picking the right college kid for next year. Franchise needs to get in a habit of building with what it has vs constant recycling. Game is played to be won, and should be treated as such every week. But that’s just me.
we just need to rebuild the areas that JMD destroyed or failed to rebuild (qb, oline, dt)
As soon as we won our third game draft position stopped mattering. This team needs a franchise qb period. We aren’t going to find that outside of the top few picks in this draft.
Unfortunately even if we are playing hard if we lose out it's hard to imagine we keep AP. Then it's back to the gamble of getting a new coach and hoping the players respond to him. We're at a spot where if we want a qb we will need to trade up
Last time we had an interim coach against the Chiefs we were outscored 89-23. I don’t want anything remotely close to that level of embarrassment. I’ll be happy with Raiders +10.5 in either matchup, at the absolutely worst.
It was a respectable loss. They were in the game and motivated the entire time. A complete turnaround from just a few weeks ago. I'm now interested and can't wait to see the next game. Last 2 weeks of McD I found other things to do.
Nothing says RAIDERS like consistently winning the early rounds of the draft. Remember when they got um, oh wait, he’s gone. And that other guy is gone. And that one dude messed up my happy meal order last week. But what about um, oh wait, he’s in jail. Gimme a minute. I’m gonna think of someone.
JACOBS! Yeah! That guy. See! Raiders make the draft their bitch every year!
This doesn't sound like a "Happy Meal".
Also, by the way, sir, this is a Wendy's.
Adams will be gone after this year, and Jacobs may be as well. Raiders have no QB option, and I guarantee they take the wrong choice in the draft. No matter who it is, it’ll end up being the wrong choice lol. Get rid of the Davis family, they’ve had 2 successful years since 2005
Not to mention we can get back to the task at hand. “Victory Monday” is great. But we are essentially starting from scratch with new plays, additional formations and personnel, different timing - we need all the time on task we can get. Especially for a rookie who needs to build chemistry with Davante.
I’m taking the loss as a learning experience we can use to better prepare for bringing it to the Chiefs on Sunday.
Not a rebuild necessarily, we need to bolster what we already have.
All this bullshit hype about AOC needs to fucking stop. He is not our future. He is not a starter. He holds none of the same traits as elite or even effective NFL QBs have.
Stop drinking the kool-aid and stop being delusional.
Why do we want a better draft position? I’ve been following the Raiders draft for almost 30 years, we have a terrible track record with first rounders, second rounders for that matter too.
I think AP is doing a good job of building culture, which is something we have lacked.
I’m on board with bringing him back next year since we will be strapped for cash paying out two additional head coaches.
I agree it’s not all bad losing but I don’t want us to put too much faith in the draft. Another Leatherwood or Arnette might be in the cards.
reality has nothing to do with being a raider fan.
Everyone needs to chill. We’re 2-1 in the new era, and we DEFINITELY could have beaten Miami. We’re doing great. 6 more games to go. If we’re 5-4 since AP take over we’re headed in an incredibly good situation.
These sub reddits hang everything on last weeks performance. Let’s see how the rest of the season pans out.
