The 3rd portal was weird for me as well, and I it before the update. All the other elixirs of blood took me to a planet that others had been to, and discovered by Hello Games a month ago. 3 brought me to a new system.

Still completed the objective, so just carried on.

That's exactly why I always enable the Compose key. It's the fastest and easiest way to just type a variety of Unicode glyphs. The key combinations trend to be intuitive as well.

There's a good chance the default config file will have a pretty decent selection. Although I have edited the config in the past, I haven't done it under KDE. The KDE article on setting up the compose key seems to say that KDE uses a different config file anyways.

Turning on the Compose key is pretty straightforward as I recall, just another setting under Keyboard settings. Finding that config file is still useful if you can't guess the right combo for your desired glyph.

Very useful for using character common in math and science.

Not exactly what you may be looking for, but one of the first things I set up in Linux is the "Compose" key. Sun keyboards in the 90's had a dedicated Compose key, and you can enable the functionality still. I usually set it to Right Alt.

The Compose key is kind of like an extended shift key, so 'Compose' + "c" + "/" for example will give you "¢".

The key combinations and characters can be edited in a config file (can't remember off the top of my head).

Not as versatile and an "Emoji picker", but allows quick insertion of Unicode glyphs into text. Useful for ¢£€¥™×° type characters.

I was looking! I probably will. Was looking through the reviews.

Jealous! I've wanted a Casio calculator watch since I was a child. Technically my off brand smart watch has a calculator, but it's not the same.

Australia? New Zealand? UK? Is CANZUK going to be a thing? Kind of got to know quick, Germany, France and Denmark just asked us out.

In all seriousness, I think this would be a great idea, with two caveats. First being, we aren't that close to the other EU countries, because we aren't in Europe. I don't know how that would interact with the hypothetical benefits of EU membership. Being able to take a high speed train from Spain to Germany has as much to do with geography as it does EU membership. Sure, political reality means you can't take a train from Poland to Belarus, but geography also means you can't take a train from Poland to Sweden. Actually, I think there is a bridge/tunnel across the Orseund now. Point being I don't think there is going to be a bridge from Canada to the EU anytime soon. Besides there

My second concern is that there is some risk to tying ourselves to the EU. Short term, we have seen per capita GDP stagnate in the EU and Canada. Assuming we also join the Eurozone, we also loose control of our own currency, offset by joining the second most "powerful" (Fungible? Useful?). This is a double-edged sword, but I think we are offering a lot of stability to the Eurozone, especially when compared to some other Southern/Eastern EU countries.

On balance, I think it's worth it to pursue. Despite the drawbacks, Canada historically has been an exporter of raw materials, a "country of lumberjacks and hockey players". Having a built in market for Canadian goods the size of the EU is just a plain benefit.

The Cursed Expedition was one of my favourite expeditions, so of course I'm redoing it.

The constant drain of the Anomaly Suppressor and the harassment of the Boundary Horrors lends an incessant pressure. That first dash to the ship with an underpowered Boltgun and no Elixirs at hand is reminiscent of a Permadeath start.

I think the slightly reduced targets of the Redux version make it a little less grindy.

And of course, the trash talk…

Artemis is gone? Run it in! She's just in another level of the simulation, you bastards!

That's uncalled for! You leave them out of this!

Some sweet vengeance

TIL! Well, I guess my galaxy transit was delayed by a valid rarity! Well, I plunked down a base there, so I'll consider it an addition to my collection of rarities.

A bit odd perhaps, at least Ii haven't run into this.

Planets in uncharted systems have no structures. However if you use a portal to travel to a planet in an uncharted system, a Portal will generate. I spent a good deal of time trying to portal to this world, and some other worlds in the same system. I've double-checked the glyphs several times. In all cases I get the address error, approximating. I'll end up in a different system around the same distance from the core every time.

I swear I've done this to generate a portal on uncharted worlds before. Did I not have enough coffee today? Has this been "patched"? As it is I portalled to a bunch of other systems anyways, so got a functional portal base for this galaxy. On to the next.

For sure. In the right hands you could do so much. Even without a plot as such, or much lore, just imagine the material for a "Game Theory" video. Why is the "Mad Forest" now a dumping ground for evil? What was it like before the vampire? Does the Astral Stair connect to the Tiny Bridge? What is the Legacy of Moonspell? Where is the fried chicken?

Chemical warfare. These bombers are carrying a chemical called "Dihydrogen Monoxide" or DHMO. What effect does adding a chemical containing Hydrogen and Oxygen to fires have?

Why isn't Trump talking about this Canadian chemical attack?

Pretty much the default for Steam Deck keyboard+mouse.

Works surprisingly well, just bind some keyboard shortcuts to the various other buttons and such.

Downside is that my right track pad is polished a little smooth in the middle. I blame the Master of Magic remake.

HODL! (For Steam sale or Humble Bundle)

My Steam Deck has largely replaced my laptop, so there is some overlap, but I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment. If you are carrying a keyboard & external screen to work on spreadsheets with you Steam Deck, you would be happier with a laptop.

I have a 60% Bluetooth keyboard and a relatively compact mouse that I can carry with me, but by that point a compact laptop would be more portable with a larger screen.

Using the on screen keyboard and built-in screen to edit spreadsheets would constitute a crime against humanity. Don't do it, there's so much more to live for.

The reason it's replaced my laptop is that I mostly use my laptop for gaming, and the Steam Deck excels at that. Most places I would use a laptop for something else, I have ready access to surplus keyboards and mice. At my parents there is an old TV with HDMI, and I stashed a basic USB mouse and keyboard there over a decade ago. My Steam Deck and a small hub is all I need.

Because of the need of external devices, I kind of consider the Steam Deck a combination of a handheld and a really portable desktop tower.

Not as big as some of the others I've found, but I'm pretty sure these are the tallest Moving Castles/Towers I've seen in Euclid (Galaxy 00, the first galaxy).

If you can get to a Euclid portal, you have a couple of choices for walkers to help you explore.

Doing the Galaxy tour, and got distracted (again) passing through #34 (hex 21) Ehbogdenbu. Saw a prime candidate for synthetic creatures and discovered the biggest walking tower I've encountered in the wild! 6.8m tall. It's a bit out of the way I suppose, but they are a wonder to behold.

The planet has aggressive sentinels, so I built a base. It should simplify pacifying the local sentinels.

The darker walker isn't native to the planet, that's the mysterious pet I picked up somewhere, but it is pretty much the same height.

Hex address 107E-0700-7007.

Currently named "Bastion Walker 6.8" but open to suggestions.

Traveller for scale

Two walking towers

I picked up this tall boi just before the Adrift Redux expedition, and I was going to remember where I picked him up but… I didn't. Flipped back through my discoveries, no sign. It's the tallest of these big synthetic creatures I've discovered. I'm certain it's the tallest creature I've discovered, but it's not in my wonders either (which make me curious to backtrack to find the tallest that is in my wonders).

I wish you could export your discoveries to a CSV file, or something that let you search through and sort more effectively, but is there any easy way to figure out where a pets origin world was?

Doing the Adrift Expedition Redux (even though I've already done Adrift, I just like doing Expedition), and ran into this at Rendezvous 4, a derelict freighter pretty much crashing into the planet. It apparently tilts gravity, and severely hampers your jump jets. TIL I guess.

I also did the freighter task for free, saving the scanner, so thank to whoever parked a derelict freighter right on top of the rendezvous. Saw lots of other people going into the freighter at the same time, so I think it helped out.

Freighter "crashing" with the gravitational anomaly tilt

If you’re on the Cursed Expedition, this crashed ship might be a nice upgrade from the C-class starter ship. It’s a crashed ship, so lots of repairs to get it into shape, but even partial cheap repairs early in the expedition gave it more cargo and better performance than the starter.

Found on the first rendezvous world, Ecorsfi in the Temarifi X system.

No eShop? No problem! We've had a bit of luck with used games not at "collectable" prices, but we've discovered hShop and CFW.

Still have a R4 card as well, and it's great that he is able to experience some classic games on the original hardware.

With all the news around Yuzu (and Citra) recently, it just reminds me about the importance of "Piracy" in game preservation.

Thanks to this community for existing, and the extensive FAQs!

When I first found it, it did also give an entered building message, but I haven't managed to test it in a storm. I'm currently distracted in my Permadeath run looking for more of these ... structures?

Down to my last task ("Hot Blooded"). Even though there wasn't much plot in Voyagers, this was one of my favourite Expeditions the first time around. I remember the first time around, I got stuck on finding a suitably hostile world, but I think in this Redux, the "Eternal Garden" (paradise world), "Unwelcome" (hostile > 84%), "Corrosive Blood" (creature with low blood pH), and lots of others were completed in the starting system.

I figure I just need to go back to the hotter worlds and start scanning critters I missed the first pass, and I'll be done.

One thing I liked about the first run of Voyagers is that there was almost two months to do it the first time around. It was billed as "relaxing" and it was. I nearly took the full two months, but I swapped back and forth between my main save and Voyagers, until I finished with a week to go (trouble with "Unwelcome" as I recall). This Redux is 10 days, which is longer than the other Redux ones, and they seem to have strategically placed the Rendezvous to help complete, but a little bit longer would have been a little bit nicer. Or at least more relaxed.
