I live in northern Ontario and I have an older 2010 F150 that I service myself and keep running. I got it used for $5,000 four years ago. It's a great truck and I use it for all my work hauling and moving stuff and going on gravel roads, sand and dirt. Since I take care of it, it's going to last a long time.

I have neighbors and friends near me who also enjoy having trucks ..... but there's are brand new monster trucks with lift kits and tons of extras .... and they never want to dirty them .... no garbage runs, no hauling lumber, no dirt roads, no bush roads (god forbid that bushes could scratch the paint) .... if they ever haul anything it has to be a brand appliance in a cardboard box from the store. The best part is, they are pieces of junk with metal that rusts prematurely and engines and transmissions that are almost programmed to fail. I had one friend who bought a brand new 2018 GM truck and in the second year, his transmission blew up .... a big beautiful truck with brand new parts and the transmission blew up!

Those big trucks are show pieces to flaunt wealth or show the appearance of wealth because for every rich guy that can afford one outright, there are ten guys in debt to pay them for the next 20 years.

Well she keeps dreaming of running away
and when she cries in the night, he whispers
"Baby, it's okay, someday"

Good riddance

I'm indigenous Canadian and my father was a traditional hunter and trapper that dealt with the HBC to trade furs up until about 1980.

This company built its wealth on the backs of indigenous people for 300 years. While the company worked people as slaves, they became enormously wealthy. Even their company reps were essentially slaves .... a lot of the Scottish descendents in northern Ontario were born from landless Scott's that had to give up their children to the company in order to pay their debts in Scotland and England.

I guess "never again" is a saying that only applies to Jewish people and no one else

It also shows to the people in the riding that they don't matter ... the position is just to get a politician into power not to represent actual people.

One of the defining things about American power was that they were so big and powerful and all present everywhere in the world that you didn't need big military parades of helicopters, jets, tanks and armies marching through the streets. The world knew they were powerful.

No better sign of respect than to have the world know you are the strongest by not saying or doing a thing to announce it.

It's like a mafia ... you don't need a big display of cars, guns and things to know that they are top dog and control everything.

Wanting to show a big display of military hardware and big groups of soldiers is something a third world or developing country does to show a bit of strength.

It's like the US wants to announce to the world that they are strong ... because they know they're losing ground.

Every time you want a break just relax and if the boss shows up just restart your computer. Tell them you're waiting for the system to boot after it froze or installed an update.

Did everyone notice how this election wiped out all the previous leaders and now we're faced with being introduced to a new crowd of political leaders.

Elizabeth May with the Green Party is the only one still standing.

Star Trek: Enterprise - Season 2 Episode 23 - Regeneration

The episode starts in the 22nd Century in the Arctic .... and the first thought I had was .... WE BEAT GLOBAL WARMING!!! Because there's still ice and snow in the Arctic.

Scott Thompson, a Canadian comedian famous as a member of the TV Comedy series 'Kids In The Hall'

Patrick Stewart, as Captain Picard with hair

Every call I've ever had that was a wrong number, misdailed number, pocket dial or whatever that wasn't supposed to be for me turned out to be a spam call or marketing call for something. Most of the time, it was a way for me to confirm my number to some dumb marketer.

For the past year or two, I answer all mysterious calls I don't recognize and put it immediately on 'mute'. If the person calling doesn't identify themselves ... I let them hang up first and then I just block the number. If they identify themselves with some weird marketing message ... I let them hang up and then block the number.

I just lost two close relatives who were also friends today. We grew up as kids and they were about a year or two older than me. I've always been aware of death and accept it but when stuff like this happens, it's a really strong reminder of how we're all moving along in the line towards the end.

Enterprise Season1 Episode 23 - "Fallen Hero"

I love how the show creators come up with new alien species but this one was too funny not to notice.

In case any of you have never witnessed the power of the ancient times
