Rules and Guidelines

1. No BigotryIncluding racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia.

2. Be CivilArgue in good faith, attack the argument; not the person, and promote a healthy debate. That includes implying violence, threats or wishes of violence and/or death.

3. No PornThis instance is not made to host porn communities. You're free to access porn communities on other instances through your account, but be mindful of Rule 4.

4. Use the NSFW tagUse your common sense: if you wouldn't want this image to show up on your work computer, tag it as such. In comments, use the
spoiler ::: tag for NSFW images, and put a NSFW mention beside links. Do not use NSFW images as your avatar or banner. :::
5. No Ads / SpamThis instance is not there to act as your billboard. If you want to promote your personal work, at least make the effort to be a contributing member of this community. Your account purpose shouldn't be to only advertise, make it natural.

6. Bot accountIf you are the operator of a "bot" account, make sure to flag is as such in the account's settings.

7. Right to privacyDo NOT distribute the personal information of someone else without their consent (aka doxxing). Information that is public domain can be shared, provided it is in good faith.
ex: The official email of an elected official is fair, the private phone number or the real name of a non-public person is NOT.

8. Report abuseThe report function isn't labelled the disagree button. You might not agree with someone, but that doesn't mean what the person says is against the rules. Using it repeately in this fashion will lead to actions being taken against the reporter.

9. ImpersonationDon't make an account with the intent to negatively deceive or defame someone on the fediverse.
ex: Parody of a famous person is okay, submitting outrageous content as appearing like another user, mod or admin isn't.

You don't need to stick with bash! There are many alternatives out there.

Not in the linked article are more popular alternatives like zsh, or the technicality of sh which exists everywhere yet is rarely used interactively.

"Officials in the Donald Trump administration discussed loaning the oil-rich province of Alberta hundreds of millions of dollars to help it become independent from Canada, a prominent separatist is claiming."

Big if true.

Leaders of the European Union and Japan launched an alliance Wednesday aimed at boosting economic cooperation, defending free trade and countering unfair trade practices as the two sides face growing challenges from the United States and China.

The agreement followed a meeting among European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President António Costa and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. It comes just as Tokyo and Washington reached a new trade deal, which places 15% tariffs on Japanese cars and other goods imported into the U.S., down from an initial 25%.

The EU and Japan also agreed to strengthen defense industry cooperation and to start talks on an information security agreement.

In a joint statement released following the EU-Japan summit, EU and Japan reiterated their opposition to “any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force or coercion” in the East and South China seas — a nod to Beijing’s growing assertiveness in contested waters — and condemned "the militarisation of the disputed features, coercion and intimidation in the South China Sea."

The two sides also expressed their support for Taiwan, reiterating "opposition to any unilateral attempts to change the status quo by force or coercion," and their ongoing support for Ukraine and Moldova.

"they discovered that Donald Trump's name appeared multiple times, according to senior administration officials."

Attorney General Pam Bondi and her deputy during a routine briefing in May informed Trump that he was in the Epstein files. While it's currently unknown why his name is in the files, it is highly suspicious that his name does in fact appear multiple times in the Epstein files.

New photos and video footage unearthing close relations between Trump and Epstein has Trump frustrated with CNN.

This one is for a bit of fun. My favorite being the “Unicorn” which was most likely a mistranslation of Wild Ox. While this is funny at a glance this shows how dangerous and easily mistranslations can change the meaning and understanding of the Bible.

The quirky Silicon Valley billionaire's priority: retaining GOP control of the House.

Do you think people like this are sincere in Christianity?

The Ethical Slut (en.m.wikipedia.org)

Has anyone read this book? It was recommended to me years ago.

Having read the disinclined books of the canonical Bible, this doesn't seem contradictory.

The Ethical Slut is a self-help book about non-monogamy written by Dossie Easton and Janet Hardy. In the book, Easton and Hardy discuss non-monogamy as a concept and a practice, and explore sexual practices and common challenges in non-monogamous relationships. The book was first published in 1997 by Greenery Press, which Hardy founded, under the title The Ethical Slut: A Guide to Infinite Sexual Possibilities. Hardy used the pseudonym "Catherine A. Liszt" for the first edition. Revised and updated editions were published in 2009 and 2017, with updated subtitles. The Ethical Slut is widely read by non-monogamous and polyamorous people. More than 200,000 copies have been sold, and the book has been analyzed and reviewed in an academic context. Background In 1969, Dossie Easton left a traumatic relationship and gave birth to a daughter. Easton joined a queer community...

Any experience with Shopper+? (www.shopperplus.ca)

I ordered a cable from Prime Cables the other day and all the emails about the order came from Shopper+. Lot's of Proudly Canadian on their web site. They seem to sell a lot of stuff. They carry office supplies, cables, electronics, kitchen stuff, among other things. Some Canadian, some not. Has anyone shopped from them before? Should we use them?
