I completely agree. Canada needs to increase our military spending to fend off Nazi America.
Buy French? Build local?
Buy French.
What shipyards do we have at this point?
I actually have no idea what the situation is.
There are several shipyards in Canada that would be big enough to build subs. While they can make surface ships, I would be a little leary of any sub that they make (I work in ship repair, and am a Navy vet).
Edit: deleted other comment to add it to this one.
There is one out in BC making a couple tankers for the Navy, one on the east coast working on another navy class, they both are doing refits. The one in Quebec is doing refits. There could be others that have the capacity that the navy wants.
I know there are a bunch of little ones throughout the country, but they are limited in what contracts they could win.
So probably go French, then?
We can keep making icebreakers or whatever locally.
Yeah, or one of the Nordic countries. The big problem is in the 80's kicked off gutting government capacity, pretty much in every field. And lost a pretty significant amount of capability. Hopefully this trend is at an end due to our neighbours current behaviour.
Why would Canada need them when y'all got America
Trust us bro, we are a reliable ally🤡
