Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

Don't buy BrewDog beer. Got it.

[–] [email protected] 56 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

This guy's notorious for being a weapons grade prick. Absolutely not surprising he's saying stuff like this.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

I've been told by literal Brewdog barstaff that if they know he's coming, they need to encourage their female staff to either dress moderately or not come in, to minimise his sexual harassment.

I don't know how true that is, but the city I'm based in, which is pretty happy to boycott assholes is filled with people who boycott Brewdog.

Such a "punk" company and guy eh?

[–] [email protected] 17 points 2 weeks ago

I bought a gin on offer the other day only to get it home and discover it was a brewdog sub brand... I felt tricked

[–] [email protected] 90 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

So to paraphrase. Rich guy with passive income, thinks the people providing his passive income should do more for less, thereby maximising his passive income.

Did I get that right?

[–] [email protected] 67 points 2 weeks ago

Correct. Whilst he also gets the opportunity to enjoy some work-life balance himself:

When he left the company, he mentioned plans to “take a bit of time off, to travel, to spend more time with my family and friends,”

[–] [email protected] 55 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Is this the same founder of brew dog whose female staff are told never to be in a room alone with him? Or is that the other one?

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 weeks ago

I think it's the same guy, yeah.

[–] [email protected] 48 points 2 weeks ago

Oh look someone else who can fuck right off.

[–] [email protected] 40 points 2 weeks ago

This the same BrewDog that the term brewdogging was coined for, meaning getting interviewees to solve actual problems in the company, thereby stealing free work from people looking for jobs?

Yeah, fuckem

Spoons and BD have been on my "do not drink at" list for a while.
This underlines the BD one for me.

[–] hellfire103 2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Wait, what's wrong with spoons, besides the obvious?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I think they might be referring to the owners politics, specifically his very strong Leave campaign during the EU referendum. Could be wrong though.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

IIRC, the owner chose to support brexit because it might mean the UK implemented minimum alcohol pricing sooner, which might have increased his trade when the gap between supermarket and pub drinking got smaller.
It really rubbed me the wrong way that was his reason.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

What do you mean besides the obvious

[–] hellfire103 1 points 2 weeks ago

Well spoons isn't exactly known for its fine dining. Don't get me wrong, it's a great place to go for a few cheap pints, but it really shouldn't be anyone's favorite.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 weeks ago

Keep on pushing back or you’ll end up like us across the pond.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 weeks ago

I totally agree, I think to encourage enthusiasm for work he should make all his employees equal shareholders with a stake in the business so all can benefit and run brewdog as a worker owned co-op, but something makes me think he won't.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He should try to open a factory with us in France.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I think this is a great idea! Perhaps he could move his whole company, its beers and himself in the process.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago

Going to the country where they have a tradition of shortening people who get too tall for their own good. I like that

[–] [email protected] 21 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I hope he's right. I prefer to be among people who are obsessed with work life balance.

[–] floofloof 9 points 2 weeks ago

How dare people want to balance his quality of life with their own!

[–] SplashJackson 19 points 2 weeks ago

What a fucking knob

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 weeks ago

Yet another Booo dog. Much better breweries from traditional to the likes of Northern Monk.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Oh look it’s another mad psycho at the top of a company who would have fucking thought it I’ve definitely never seen that before Wowee so strange and unusual. Ban companies, ban money, put people like this out in pieces on tower bridge that’s my advice.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Not defending the guy, he seems an ass but he is also seemingly not that involved with the company anymore.

Watt stepped down from BrewDog's daily operations last year after 17 years but retains his ownership stake and holds the title of “captain and co-founder” in a non-executive role.

The company apologised and promised to learn from the situation, though they later faced backlash for reversing a pledge to pay real living wages.

So maybe rather lookup what he currently does and boycott that if you can.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

If he retains an ownership stake doesn't that mean he still takes home the profit of Brewdog so boycotting would still be effective/desirable?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

I'd think so

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Only in the form of dividends, if brewdog pays them.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

As a shareholder he has no say in that. The company directors say how much dividend is paid, and he is no longer one of them.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

he has no say in that

I don't understand why you're telling me this.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 weeks ago

The one brewdog pub we have here is overpriced and not very nice, now I have one less reason to go there

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 weeks ago

Jobsworth in a flatcap, fuck off with your poncy beers, absolute wanker

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 weeks ago

Move beyond that obsession, towards what, exactly? Besides, it's not as if this apparent laziness has stopped you getting stinking rich.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

People like this might not understand anything besides violence.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago

I think it's pretty obvious. The moment you start treating people as resources, putting policy over people, you've declared that you have little to no empathy and place little value on human life, aside from your own.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago

He's a known cunt. How opinion means nothing.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Oh no, less people are working themselves into the ground which limits the need for the momentary escape that alcohol can bring and affects the sales of my pretentious beer. Boo-fucking-hoo.
