Why do Republicans think impeachment will do anything? The president is twice impeached and if anything he's worse than ever.

Because they have the votes to convict and remove.

They need a two thirds vote in the Senate to convict on an impeachment. A simple majority is not enough. They do not have the votes to convict.

FINALLY! They're going after the People who used Unsecure Nongovernmental Text Messaging Apps to PLAN A WAR in which AMERICANS WILL DIE!

Wait nevermind.

This is the first time I've seen you break character. Hope you're taking care of yourself in this challenging environment for satire.

Try all you want. Won't happen.

Also, traitors.

They have the votes. There's really no reason to suspect it won't happen.....

This is a very dangerous and scary time.

The article states that they’d need 14* Democrats to vote for impeachment and that this is a nonstarter. What do you mean that they have the votes?

Edit: since this got a lot of traction, I’ll add my reply here. Impeaching a Democrat nominated judge or a non-partisan Republican judge who is acting well within the law AND trying to ensure that Separation of Powers still exists is entirely different than voting in nominees for cabinets, which happens within every administration.

Really? The ten Democrats that voted to censure Al Green would like to have a word.

I sure as hell wouldn't trust Democrats to do the right thing.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

And they got excoriated for it. This is a much different situation, and I doubt they'd get enough votes to reach the 2/3 required to convict in the Senate. If they did, every Democrat that voted for it would be voted out.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 5 days ago

Didn't they easily find 10 to continue funding this madness WHILE attaching even more destructive stuff to the bill?

The democrats will fall neatly inline

So they have Democrats scared enough to vote for RFK Jr, a previous "Democrat" that had brain worms, doesn't believe in vaccines, and pushed Ivermectin as a treatment for COVID (AKA an actually fucking dangerous individual) for Director of HHS but somehow they're not also going to vote to impeach judges?

Impeaching judges is a pretty personal decision. Not really something I would call partisan. But JFK, Jr being DoHHS is an entirely partisan vote and they were still able to get him confirmed. His stances on Vaccines are completely the opposite of the entire Democratic party and they still got the votes to confirm him. I think you're being hopelessly naive.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago

Fuck the partisan aspect, RFK jr's stance on vaccines is opposite scientific consensus that has been established for centuries. Even Trump's first term didn't accept such fringe idiocy in an HHS director.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Democratic leadership is fully controlled opposition, they'll find 14.

Downvoters, explain running to thiel and musk for money after the election then.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Removal requires 2/3 in the senate meaning 67 senators need to vote yes. There are only 53 republicans

Even on the shutdown stuff with Schumer actively pushing for voting for the CR, they only got to 62 not 67. Would be even harder to convince them to vote for a judge impeachment comparatively

Still call your senators and let them know not to vote for it, but it highly unlikely they would have the votes

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

There are only 53 republicans

They also have Republicans masquerading as Democrats. There are several of them. They've been confirming nominees, supporting actions, and other stupid shit. Pretending they don't, or can't, is just setting yourself up for failure.

If you would have told me 1 year ago that we would be where we are right now, I would have had you committed, because there's no fucking way. They just de-funded the department of education man. The DOE for fucks sake. And you still have your head in the sand?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 5 days ago

How dare Federal Judges actually defend the law and the constitution when Trump breaks it. Do realize these impeachments could never pass the Senate. So the real purpose is to try to intimidate Judges.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago

This is just about corruption in the government. It's easier to just pass the law that makes it legal.
