If things get censored you can never have a discussion about them and I think that's bad.

Welcome to MoG!
Meanwhile On Grad
Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!
What is a Tankie?
Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.
(caution of biased source)
Basic Rules:
Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.
Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.
Apologia — (Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.
Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.
Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.
Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.
You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.
You can't argue with .ml people. They just want to praise their glorious mass murderer ... I mean, leaders.
What is rule 1?
Rule 1 is the lemmy.ml instance wide rule "officially" against bigotry, but unofficially and in practice, it's their catchall Rule for any speech they don't personally like i.e. speech critical of Russia/CCP/NK etc
You see, criticism of China = sinophobia = bigotry = rule 1. Easy.
It is precisely, exactly the same tactic as 'any criticism of the actions of the Israeli government and/or Zionists that support them = you are a Jew hating antisemite.'
"Picking quarrels and provoking trouble".

So basically chinese disorderly conduct
I got rule 1d for saying "BING CHILLING"
That was the entire comment.
BING CHILLING
I did a quick google search and all I got that it meant something like relaxing but somehow managed to be the next "ching chong".
Does it have something to do with "bing" meaning "cold" or "ill" or something else (because the Roman characters are not telling the pitch) and chilling could be "chi ling" or is just chilling in cold or sth?
How does everything become a slur anyway? Someday I might pick up the phone and say "Hello", just to be called offensive.
I still fail to find it offensive, but I guess that's my fault for not finding stuff not offensive when people are not trying to be offensive.
Complains about communist censorship
Tankies censor them
Checks out
It's an accusation framed as a question.
But ya. The banning has gotten out of hand.
A critical mass of precious ideologues? Seems unlikely. I actually think somebody is trying to split up lemmy.
Have you not been in the same world I have for the last decade or so?
I mean you got the "pointless conspiracy theory when behavior can be explained as humans being human" part down but...
We must be familiar with a different species of human. Normal people aren't this touchy... and, I dunno, "tribal".
I actually think somebody is trying to split up lemmy.
I doubt it
It's it all political posting? Has anyone tried a similar post with a pro Russia slant?
How can anyone in good faith support the west?
/s ofc.
I did. On Reddit. And got banned. Now switched to Lemmy, because I thought that mods are normal here, but it seems that either Reddit mods caught up or Lemmy is Reddit in blue. Hope not so!
Lemmy isn't a centrally controlled entity. Each instance has its own rules...
.ml for example is a Russian controlled propaganda instance. Even thinking something bad about China or Russia while browsing there is enough for a ban :p
Thanks for the hint and advice to be aware of potentially changing rules among Lemmy instances. At least there is the possibility to stay in an instance with lesser restrictions.
PS How can the mods in the .ml channel see what I think 😳
They can only see if your instance hasn't defederated. There's also lemmygrad and hexbear for increasing levels of auth commie lunacy.
-2 demerits
Well aside, I love indications that someone has never seen a word in writing. The visual equivalent of a bizarre pronunciation. English is full of these opportunities because it's a creole gone feral. Occasionally you get it both ways, where people never connect appetizers called "ordervs" to a menu section titled "hors d'oeuvre."
Literally!
Rule 1 strikes again.
