I understand that spray tanning ears may be difficult, but could they at least try?

I have a stupid question: how did El Salvador even agree to this? Like what mechanism allowed Republicans to send people there to begin with?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 hours ago

Italy built a center for migrants in Albania. If there is money to be made, then they'll find a way.

El Salvador's regime has already sent 80k people to gulags since 2022, and capitalism found it cheaper to outsource US gulags to poor countries, the same way it did for manufacturing. Rather ironic, really.

Also, Trump's definitely making money off the deal somehow. It isn't realistic to airlift tens of thousands of Americans there though. This is just the start. They'll probably start building domestic death camps soon; to disappear the bulk of the undesirables.

It is more of a way to sidestep the judicial process. The executive branch can act faster than the judicial branch in removing someone from the country before appeals. Once the person is in a foreign country, they are no longer in custody of someone under the control of American judges.

It isn't a cost saving measure, it is a legal loophole.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

It's far more expensive in the long run anyway.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Facists don't really care. V2 rockets were more expensive and less effective tactically than panzer tanks, but the Naxis built the rockets...

[–] [email protected] 0 points 44 minutes ago (1 children)

No that was one of the few successes, v2 were ineffective weapons they were however incredibly effective acts of terror.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 41 minutes ago (1 children)

Terror is not an effective tactic to end a war. It only motivates the enemy more.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 36 minutes ago

No one said it was to win the war itself it was too demoralize England and it worked in large part until Germany started getting carpet bombed and the dichotomy exampled the British isles relative safety.

From my understanding it's a very poor nation with a deeply corrupt leadership. Said leaders are taking the opportunity to make money from industrialized incarceration without any oversight. The US president is openly breaking the law by deporting people there but has nothing to worry about anyway because the harshest form of protest the american people can think of is a passive aggressive tweet (that will generate ad revenue for the biggest monetary Trump supporter). The best part of this is that once people are there he can just raise his hands and say "well I can't get them back, they're outside the US!"

Not a direct answer and this video is out of date with current events, but the background on the current state of El Salvador is worth knowing: https://youtu.be/WtkI-QAgM6w

El Salvador, please remember the iron law of dealing with trump:

Everyone who works with trump will be shit on. No exceptions.

Build your prisons, you'll be stuck with them either way because trump isn't going to pay for anything, and he'll probably demand you use his companies to do it so you lose twice as much.

[–] [email protected] 38 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Trump said. “I’d like to include them in the group of people to get them out of the country. But you’ll have to be looking at the laws.”

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

🤨

[–] [email protected] 22 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I might just be a libtard and don't understand. But shouldn't the president be the one "looking at the laws?"

[–] [email protected] 18 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

Yes. But no one ever accused Trump of knowing how anything works. Truly, nobody knew presidenting could be so complicated.

El Salvador becoming the new Poland?

[–] phoenixz 9 points 8 hours ago

Now all we need is train lines straight to those camps

Then, it can get quite cold in those camps, so maybe we should build some big diesel generators to, you know, make sure the inmates can get hot showers....

I guarantee you that ben Shapiro would be raving about those showers, they'd be a luxury for the prisoners

Fuck everything about this timeline

I know how crazy this sounds, but hear me out. El Salvador is only a staging location, those people will not be sent back to their home country, the real plan here is for Musk to use them to colonize Mars.

Why do I believe this? Because Musk said several times that in his lifetime he will put 1 million people on Mars, and well, he does own a space company and now has enough backing from the Orange Clown to do anything he wants.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 10 hours ago

But space karen always underdelivers

[–] floofloof 16 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

I fear the plan is darker than that. They will keep sending people in, and El Salvador promises that no one will ever come out (even if they're innocent). If you keep piling people in and never let anyone out, you run out of space unless you find some other way to dispose of people.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Yep. Just a couple more steps than pushing people out of planes over the ocean.

[–] floofloof 7 points 6 hours ago

It's what Pinochet did, and he was very much admired by Reagan and Thatcher. I certainly wouldn't put it past Trump's people to start doing this.

Biomass is biomass.

Musk doesn't want to be surrounded by minorities and liberals, even as Martian slaves, he's got robots for that.

Musk wants Mars populated with his rich white buddies and their families.
The rest of us will be slaves here on earth, with the food and goods we produce shipped to Mars.

The people sent to El Salvador will meet the same fates as those in the German concentration camps.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 hours ago

Seems like a helluva Mars plan. I'm all for it.

My only addition is that we'd stop shipping the supplies and cut the comms once they're up there.

[–] OttoVonNoob 3 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

I never got what he was thinking with the colonizing Mars stuff, Northern Ontario is uncolonized (Endless swamps and frozen wasteland but lots of animals and minerals) But you're going to jump to a place you can't even breathe with no natural resources!?!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

It is a stupid fantasy, what matters is they have fully normalized fascism here in the US

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 hours ago

Thank American god! I was getting sick of all these rights :/

[–] [email protected] 5 points 9 hours ago

Antarctica is even more uninhabited and he could build 10 cities there for the same price as one small Mars colony.
And it's warmer, the air is breathable, and only takes a few hours to get to on a plane instead of months in space.
Anything built to survive the surface of Mars would work on Antarctica for a fraction of the cost.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 hours ago

Maybe we can send the Orange Turd there as retribution for the evil this man is doing.
