"You're not going to eliminate cars. You're not going to eliminate transportation sound. But we can do a better job of keeping those away from people," he said.

Hey look! More propaganda.

You can 100% cut down car noise by replacing them with street cars, electric busses, commuter trains and bicycles.

It's buses, not "busses", but yeah pretty much. In Winnipeg, every 3rd vehicle is some ridiculous jacked-up, dudebro coal-rolling FUCK TRUDEAU mobile. Get rid of those and all those stupid-as-fuck, needlessly loud Harleys and you instantly remove 75% of the cacophony that forces me to shut my windows and turn on the AC

The CAR-cophony? I'll see myself out lol

A reminder that cities aren't loud, cars are loud.

It appears that you linked an image.

Here's the link they probably tried to link:
https://www.cbc.ca/radio/whitecoat/the-dose-noise-health-1.6889724

It's from the same news source as the image they linked, and it contains the line "If you live in a big city in Canada, chances are you regularly hear noises that are harmful to your health."

But, I am suspect of this poster. That URL for the picture seems sketchy, and using a sentence from a 2-year-old news story is also odd as hell.

It is even stranger than it has 20 upvotes if the link is broken.

@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] I'm pretty sure I viewed this post when it still had the original CBC link, with the CBC headline preserved in the post title. I think this poster is getting tripped up by the Lemmy issue whereby adding a post image deletes the URL. Maybe the user then supplies their own title instead of the 'copy suggested title'

The sound i can live with, but the pollution is off the charts. I don't know what's been going on in Surrey, but the air is often full of a chemical stench, and harsh on the lungs. I'm pretty sure that shit is killing far more people than sound.

In my case it's just emotionally harmful.

I’m glad I live in a much busier city with a lot more traffic but not in Canada
