I could be okay, but I also wouldn't purposely get such a large space when I don't plan to fill it with stuff. Just give me space big enough for the matress and desk.

I love that you look at this and say "woah, that's way too much, I prefer less"

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If it means lower rent then hell yeah!

there are teensy tiny municipally-owned apartments available in a city near me for like 200€ per month and i'm absolutely planning to get one if i ever get an income, they're so smol that the "kitchen" is a recessed wardrobe with a sink and like 2 hotplates, which honestly considering how we have perfectly decent bags of frozen meals that you can just toss in a pot for 10 minutes is perfectly acceptable for a single-person household!

Ain't no home without enough open space for all kinds of push ups! If you're daring, you could even do other exercises too!

Had to take my coffee table out of my living area to get enough room in my apt. Only other option would have been moving my pc to bedroom and tossing out my bedframe

Low carbon footprint living gets way more hate than it should (and it shouldn't get any).

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm too old to be getting down on the fucking ground like that. Needs a frame of cinder blocks and plywood.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago (6 children)

You should do that anyways. Bed frames exost for a reason: it helps to stop moisture building up on the underside of the mattress, and thus prevents mold.

Out of frame: a huge ass TV and a single armchair.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

Why have an armchair? Just roll the gaming chair over

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 week ago (2 children)

This shit is putting men in a box and " hu duh, men basic, like dog"

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago (5 children)

What would you add other than a better bed?

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

mini fridge for beer

Throw in a server rack and it’s perfect.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Needs a motorcycle being rebuilt in it, with that much open space

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

Cuts a Wall open, now i can park my car inside.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 week ago

It's a bit much for me, as I'd want the mattress more elevated, but let me tell you, I am 99% sure I have adhd, and minimalism like this appeals to me so it's less shit I have take care of, every item in your house is a fucking dust collector that you have to wipe down, fuck that shit, I only want the absolute essentials, rest is slowly going to the bin

Men? Look at this flooring, look at this lighting project! Amazing place

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It is just missing a cinder block nightstand and a dead plastic plant to tie the place together.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Dead plastic plant. For when you want everyone to know you are irresponsible, but without the responsibility

I bet a Hot Wheels would roll real good on that floor.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago

hell, I wish I had something more like that and not a house full of shit I don't use most of the time.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 week ago

This may be too much even

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago

Looks great. Even has guest bedroom.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I don't get why people hate on this. Do all the useless nick-nacks actually add something to their lives?

If this is all you need, what's the problem?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Yes, the knick-knacks are my most prized possessions. Crystal balls, monkey skulls, old clocks—these are the building blocks of my happiness. Nothing brings me more joy than a perfectly arranged curio cabinet. It is like an OCD orgasm.

I wish I had this much room to practice the blade.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

To be fair, some women would say that too. There's so much room to build stuff and do projects! I could get so fucking irresponsible!

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Nah man, I need an actual bed lol

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

I don't need a bed, but an air mattress is a HARD no.

I'd rather sleep on a clear carpet with a blanket.

[–] DrBob 8 points 1 week ago

I lived like this the first year of my postdoc and couldn't have been happier. I had 4 place settings but only used one and washed it after every meal. Desk, computer, one camp chair, and an inflatable mattress. Stayed that way until my wife joined me my second year and made me get a real apartment.

The minimal furniture and a sense of free space are great for my mental health. A cluttered home to me feels like a cluttered mind. I don't want to live in a cage of excess stuff, much like I don't want to carry unhealthy mental baggage with me, pulling me down. You may see a sparse room, but I see freedom from sensory fatigue. I see freedom.

This is my room, less space and bigger bed. More screens too ofc

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

I need three desks. Modern PC desk, retro PC desk, and a soldering desk. Otherwise, perfect.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

Look at all the space for a mini painting station

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

Twice as many mattreses as needed.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

Not nearly enough screens.

I'm a man and all I can see is all the dust this huge surface area will collect

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

Having more stuff doesn't mean less dust. It means more things with dust on it.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

You can keep your living space as clean or dirty as you like. With all the open space you can use those big duster mops.

Probably take like 5 minutes. Those are over a meter wide
