Thanks, that’s an excellent point. I know Blaze and I (and probably others) have accumulated a suite of alt accounts because of moderation issues from remote accounts. I’ve added a note to the OP.

Indeed

Yes, same for !politics@lemmy.world which is restricted to US politics

They are luring people interested in federation by pretending ATProto is federated without saying that the cost of running an instance is prohibitive.

Posts about ATProto pop up every week in this community when people ask why people here aren't considering it instead of ActivityPub

BridgyFed will be shut down the moment BlueSky doesn't need the Fediverse compatibility for PR

It's fine to have different communities. !politics@hexbear.net and !politics@lemmy.world should indeed both exist and be different communities.

Having crossposts to communities which are completely similar (same rules, same moderation and admin policies) just splinters the discussion.

Maybe there is some logic that posts are only unified if there is no post in between them, or they are from similar time. Much guessing from my side.

Crossposts are identified by a similar link, which is the case for your two examples (the techcrunch article or the picture link)

Yes, and after that we'll only need 300 millions to open a second Bluesky instance 🥲
