I remember hearing some concerns with the tool before it was acquired by Mozilla, did they end up resolving those?

Can you try going through each tab and pressing the two check marks button up top

Else you might need to log in to your web instance and clear it there

The way you see nutrition labels on food packaging is about to change. By 2025, new front-of-package labels will start appearing on grocery store shelves, and by January 2026, they’ll be mandatory.

Over the past two decades, nutrition labelling has evolved into a cornerstone of public health strategies worldwide. Traditional back-of-package labels, which provide comprehensive nutritional details, are often overlooked due to their complexity and placement, making them less effective in guiding consumer choices.

Front-of-package labels address this issue by simplifying key nutritional information and positioning it in a more prominent, visible space. This streamlined approach has proven successful in leading consumers toward healthier choices, as research indicates that simplified, visible labels can influence purchasing decisions

This is the resource I go to when I need to check something, and it should be excellent for learning more on some privacy topics.

https://www.privacyguides.org/en/

After that you might need to go find another resource for the specific technical topics. They have a discussion section, so you can ask for recommendations there?

Good to know, thank you!

This photo makes the little guy look small, while also giving off lion king pride rock vibes.

Is that a friend

We have already been seeing an increase in new legitimate users joining these past few days. Is this happening to any other instances?

I thought that it would be photos and timestamps for when people entered and exited the washroom, which would already be controversial

Notably, when the worker would not open the bathroom door for long, the other staffer would stand on the ladder and use the phone to click the pictures.

That sounds illegal

It's a valid concern since this is an area of the Fediverse that requires more oversight for safety, and smaller instances may not have the personnel for it.

I think it can still work, but something like this should be structured so that:

  • People moderate local groups, similar to how communities work on Lemmy/Piefed/Mbin
  • You join the group that is local to your region, or to your hobby

That way it isn't on the admins to look over everything, and moderators can take action on what they have experience with.

Past that, the usual rules apply when buying something from people online:

  • meet up in person, unless they person's profile makes you trust them
  • meet in a public place, even better if it is a place that is designated for such meetups
  • don't pay them online before you have seen and tested the item

The Sea to Sky Highway linking Vancouver and Whistler, B.C., has been closed in both directions after a mudslide near Lions Bay brought down trees and debris to block the road.

The RCMP in Squamish, B.C., says the road is not expect to reopen until midnight and no detours are available.

The Ministry of Transportation is asking drivers to avoid travelling to the area as emergency crews are on the scene and heavy equipment and ministry personnel are on the way.

Drivers are encouraged to check DriveBC for updates on when the highway may be reopened.

Also from https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/landslide-closes-sea-sky-highway

Officials with the District of Squamish said drivers who are stuck north of the slide near Lions Bay should plan to stay the night in the area, either with friends or family while the Resort Municipality of Whistler urged people to find a hotel for the night.

There is an alternate route through Lillooet and Lytton for people stuck on the north side of the slide who want to get back to the Lower Mainland, according to RCMP.

No other detours are available and North Shore Rescue staff are urging drivers not to go by what Google Maps is showing as a detour through the Coquitlam Watershed. There is no public access that way, according to NSR.

I thought the CT scans were neat

I'm not familiar with them personally, and don't plan to switch away from Signal anytime soon, but this might help anyone that was looking into Threema :)

Some discussion about it:

TLDR, it looks good from a technical aspect but being a paid app makes it harder to recommend, and it doesn't do well with the network effect as a result

I wanted to pick a name that's generic and not specific to any particular platform. For example, [email protected] instead of [email protected]

I don't see a community for that yet, aside from [email protected], which is specific to Loops.

Some sources of the content could be:

  • Fediverse Loops
  • Tiktok
  • Instagram Reels
  • YouTube Shorts

The sidebar could include guides on how to link to the content in a more accessible way (ex. alternate front-ends or re-posting).

Overall, B.C. was given a “B” grade by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business in its annual report, released in July, on the status of interprovincial trade, but a dispute with Alberta over direct-to-consumer wine sales earlier this year indicates there is still room for improvement.

Jairo Yunis, a B.C. Business Council policy director and former director of B.C. and western economic policy at CFIB, said one example is that trucking in the province is essentially facing a five-per-cent tariff to bring goods into Alberta or other jurisdictions in Canada.

“There was an analysis done by the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, months ago, that calculated the average internal trade cost for the trucking industry in B.C. was around five per cent,” said Yunis.

“I know that there is a working group looking at a pilot project to mutually recognize all these standards and regulations across all provinces. So that’s definitely something that would remove some of these internal trade barriers in some of those sectors, specifically trucking.”

It's a weird headline, but the discussion is around how journalists and the public look through internet history in cases like this. Some of it is helpful, some of it is not.

In particular, it's a response to this article:

'Extremely ironic': Suspect in UnitedHealthcare CEO slaying played video game killer, friend recalls (NBCNews)

The game in this case being AmongUs...

Monday night, NBC News published an article with the headline “’Extremely Ironic’: Suspect in UnitedHealthcare CEO Slaying Played Video Game Killer, Friend Recalls.” This article is currently all over every single one of my social media feeds, because it is emblematic of the type of research I described above. It is a very bad article whose main reason for existing is the fact that it contains a morsel of “new” “information,” except the “information” in this case is that Luigi Mangione played the video game Among Us at some point in college.
