4. Use the NSFW tagUse your common sense: if you wouldn't want this image to show up on your work computer, tag it as such. In comments, use the

8. Report abuseThe report function isn't labelled the disagree button. You might not agree with someone, but that doesn't mean what the person says is against the rules. Using it repeately in this fashion will lead to actions being taken against the reporter.

9. ImpersonationDon't make an account with the intent to negatively deceive or defame someone on the fediverse.
ex: Parody of a famous person is okay, submitting outrageous content as appearing like another user, mod or admin isn't.

They might call it Levity, but there’s nothing funny about Rapid Liquid Print’s new silicone 3D printer. It has to be seen to be believed, and luckily [3D Printing Nerd] gives us lots of beauty shots in this short video, embedded below.

Smooth, and fast. This bladder took 51 minutes according to the RLP website.

Printing a liquid, even a somewhat-viscous one like platinum-cure silicone, presents certain obvious challenges. The Levity solves them with buoyancy: the prints are deposited not onto a bed, but into a gel, meaning they are fully supported as the silicone cures. The fact that the liquid doesn’t cure instantly has a side benefit: the layers bleed into one another, which means this technique should (in theory) be much less isotropic in strength than FDM printing. We have no data to back that up, but what you can see for yourself that the layer-blending creates a very smooth appearance in the finished prints.

If you watch the video, it really looks like magic, the way prints appear in the gel. The gel is apparently a commercially-available hydrogel, which is good since the build volume looks to need about 500 L of the stuff. The two-part silicone is also industry-standard and off-the-shelf, though no doubt the exact ratios and are tweaked for purpose. There’s no magic, just a really neat technology.

If you want one, you can sign up for the waiting list at Rapid Liquid Print’s website, but be prepared to wait; units ship next year, and there’s already a list.

Alternatively, since there is no magic here, we’d love to see someone take it on themselves, the way once equally exotic SLS printers have entered the DIY world. There was a time when resin printers were new and exotic and hobbyists had to roll their own, too. None of this is to say we don’t respect the dickens out of the Rapid Liquid Print team and their achievement–it’s just that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

It would be nice to see the domain the link takes you in the post feed (for compact, not sure if it's already in other views, but I'm sure other people using those would like it too if it's not there already) like in the lemmy web UI. I don't always want to go to certain pages, and this makes that easier to spot.

For years, California Democrats have defended their landmark program to put ethnic studies classes in high schools across the state. But one particular area of study threatens to unravel the Democratic consensus: Palestine.

In the past year, state lawmakers have teamed up with community groups and the lobbying coalition Jewish Public Affairs Committee of California, or JPAC, in a push to regulate the ethnic studies program. They’re aiming to pass a law that curbs local school board control over ethnic studies curricula in response to classwork focusing on the history of Israel and Palestine that they say has promoted unprecedented bigotry against Jewish students.

The bill’s backers are framing the effort as a way to ensure that ethnic studies “will combat all forms of hate,” as one of the bill’s authors, Assemblymember Dawn Addis, wrote in a March 30 op-ed. “At a time when the federal government is trying to rewrite American history by banning diversity initiatives, California must persist in elevating the lived experiences of everyone in this country,” wrote Addis, whose office did not respond to inquiries from The Intercept.

Got some technical power/thrash today for my pick. From Minnesota of all places, the voice kinda reminds me of Randy Rampage from Annihilator's debut a bit when he does a lil scream. Guitarwork is good and has a decent sound. Hard to believe there's still old school thrash to be discovered lol. This whole album kicks ass, but you can skip the one they released in 2015 save for a few tracks.

Stepping back into Oblivion Remastered can feel a bit overwhelming, even for those of us who played the original way back *checks watch* 19 years ago. For those Skyrim fans who stepped into the game expecting something similar, I'm sorry to tell you that Oblivion is a different beast entirely.

Whether it's trying to overcome the game's inscrutable persuasion or lockpick minigames, or working out how the hell you became a vampire and what you're supposed to do about it, Oblivion is a lot less streamlined than Skyrim, but that's part of its charm. It's an RPG that rewards you for going with the flow and experimenting a little as you explore Cyrodiil.

If you're looking for tips as you step back into the RPG, or play it for the first time, I've included a selection of our Oblivion guides down below. There's a section for character creation, notable changes in the remaster, getting started with unfamiliar mechanics, and even some details about starting the game's beloved DLC. Happy trails in Tamriel!

At about 1:30 in the afternoon on April 28, air-traffic controllers overseeing the busy airspace around Newark Liberty International Airport suddenly faced a frightening scenario.

The chatter from pilots they were communicating with went silent. Radar screens filled with dots showing aircraft positions went dark. Backup systems failed. Planes bound for the area went into holding patterns.

Donald Trump plans to announce while on his trip to Saudi Arabia next week that the US will now refer to the Arabian Gulf or the Gulf of Arabia rather than the Persian Gulf.

The move has prompted outrage from Iranian leaders, and last-minute efforts are being made to persuade Trump to pull back from offending Iran in the midst of vital talks on the future of the Iranian nuclear programme. “If Trump went ahead with the proposal he would manage to unite every Iranian, pro- or anti-regime, against him, and that is a near impossible achievement,” one diplomat said.

The Iranian foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, said he hoped the absurd rumour about a name change was disinformation, adding that names of Middle East waterways did “not imply ownership by any particular nation, but rather reflects a shared respect for the collective heritage of humanity”.

“The name Persian Gulf, like many geographical designations, is deeply rooted in human history. Iran has never objected to the use of names such as the Sea of Oman, Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea or Red Sea. In contrast, politically motivated attempts to alter the historically established name of the Persian Gulf are indicative of hostile intent toward Iran and its people, and are firmly condemned. Such biased actions are an affront to all Iranians, regardless of their background or place of residence.
