I am trying to kick Reddit, I get a lot of my Saskatchewan news from there and I am in a lot of groups so I can scroll and see things. What are some groups I can join here that are a good idea?

At present 50% of the company's chocolates in Canada came from the U.S., and the rest from Europe.

"We are able to source 100% from Europe," Lechner told Reuters.

Lindt, whose products include Lindor chocolate balls, has already built up inventories in Canada from the U.S. to give it time to change its supply chain, which it expects to complete by the middle of the year.

Chief Financial Officer Martin Hug said it would be slightly more expensive to transport chocolate to Canada from Europe but it would cost less than if tariffs were imposed.

I would love to see more companies move in this direction. It's not perfect, but at least they are trying, and I think that's great.

I'm an Ontario resident, and I had been planing a trip to Alaska. For obvious reason, I'm re-routing to BC for glacier.

I have several doubts about this trip:

  1. As a first-time traveller for glacier, which park/route do you suggest?
  2. I'm not a fan of hiking. Can I stay on the driveway?
  3. I'm planning a 5-day trip. Is it too short?

Thank you!

I have a bunch of gold and silver maple leaf coins and I am pretty sure that there are more Canadian products available in our stores (I live in Austria).

Screw trade tariffs.

You'd think with all the cereals we're producing, it'd be ubiquitous, but all the stuff at the grocery store was either Kelloggs, Kraft, or General Mills.
I think Shreddies are made in Canada, but owned by Post?

There seemsto be a few more options out west than here in QC.
I already get granola from a small local place which is great, but surely there's a Canadian version of corn flakes or rice krispies or whatnot somewhere.

I'm also open to just making my own.

When I arrived at my whole blood donation appointment today with the Canadian Blood Services, the receptionist asked me if I might be interested in donating plasma instead. I asked, "Why, is there a shortage?" and she (and later the other wonderful collection specialists) explained to me that essentially, yes—there is a shortage.

I had no idea until today, but it seems our plasma supply for now largely depends on purchasing from the global market. Worse, we've apparently had to contract private entities that operate paid plasma collection clinics, which is unethical and also increases the safety risks that threaten our supply (i.e. desperate individuals can feel compelled to sell their plasma to help meet their financial needs).

Their shipping is a bit weird, some things don't ship to Ontario and I can't figure or why.

Trying to find a way to be able to chat at a distance with my kids when playing Minecraft together online.

I'm having a really hard time finding a privacy focused video/audio chat that isn't American or aimed at businesses.

Something like Signal would be perfect but they don't have a phone so yeah...

I tried to set up Jami but it's too difficult and it needs to be simple for them since the oldest is 10 :/

The package is basically the same as Stack TV with few additions and the ability to add Hollywood Suite.

It is owned by VMedia < Freedom Mobile < Videotron < Québecor

Not too sure why there's so many levels under Québecor but all the levels are Canadian owned and operated.

Canadian Piano Methods? (self.buycanadian)
submitted 3 months ago by MusicSoulEdu to c/buycanadian

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone knew of a Canadian piano methods series? I have historically used Alfred and Faber series, but with everything going on, I was wondering if anyone knew of alternatives for me to try. Many thanks in advance!

Buy Beaver was created by a couple of entrepreneurs based in Montreal. It's a free app and they're currently just supporting the project with donations.

I'm thinking of my friends and family who aren't on an alternative social media that loves Linux and Star Trek memes. I've been recommending stuff (I'll put in the comments) they can do that I think is easy and helpful but curious to see what your thoughts/recommendations are!

In addition to the Arkel post that someone else made, Atwater Atelier also makes bike bags out of Quebec.

Some retailers across the country sell their stuff locally (like Urbane Cyclist out of Toronto), but they have online ordering, too.

I've got one of their handlebar bags, and the quality is excellent.

True story: I became aware of the brand when I spotted a cycle tourist while I was on my own ride along the waterfront trail. We rode and chatted (he was from Montreal and doing a cross-Canada ride), and he mentioned the brand after I spotted his Arkel bags, and we got on the topic of bike gear.
