Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

708 readers
132 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YTPB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

Some acronyms you might see.

.world mods are still frantically pissing into the wind, I see.

I lost all faith in .world after they banned piracy communities; unbanned them after user unrest; and when the hype died down, silently rebanned them all.

Their behaviour is becoming problematic as they appear to be modding to miriror reddit.

So we left reddit to be still modded by them?

Granted due to beauty of fedi, we can still have these discussions here but they are still winning.

Luigi talk suppression is brazen, reddit gets cleaned out from it with the most mild takes being left.

At the end of the day, a normal person won't have access to these ideas because algos and mods won't let them. You don't know life is simulation until you try to step out of it.

Start a new Ask Lemmy on a different instance and announce it. I’ll subscribe.

My account is too unhinged for modding job lol

A mod has to maintain appearance of propriety and I aint here to moderate my speech.

I do think though we will need to subs on various servers to mirrior these high traffic communities as rejects can be captured after being banned on high traffic subs. There is demand for free discussion (within reason) clearly.

This sub is an indicator of that.

Similar to why I stated that I'm unfit to run for a local public office. I've been too open about my views and too aloof with my choices and it could be used against me. But I get you.

Calling for someone with a more refined comment history to start a new Ask Lemmy, assuming someone is willing. We shouldn't let .world push people around.

Even the [email protected] mods have alts on other instances and aren't that positive against LW.

Edit: hm, reading this thread they seem to be powertripping somehow, that's sad

For casual questions, there is [email protected], but for more serious topics, I don't know.

World seems to be presenting itself as Reddit 2.0, and has been for a very long time. It's also where a lot of the default subreddits came, which meant the same mod team and probably a few power users.

Which is not inherently bad, but I'd like the Reddit culture to stay on Reddit as much as possible.

But they're the biggest, so I guess that's what works? For bigness I mean.
