lol thanks bro

Probably shouldn't post your face on public internet like this, but I'm glad you did, because I have the exact same jacket!

Also, I've been following this project for a while, with all of it's heartbreaks, and it was totally worth it--this turned out awesome!

You know, I've only seen your three posts on this project, starting with the first painful break; and commented once or twice; but somehow - through the magic of Lemmy - I feel as if we built this project together.

Seriously, though... knowing now how much work it was, will you ever make something like it again?

[–] NataliePortland 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Haha that’s very nice I’m glad you were there to share the experience with me. Yes I absolutely would make it again I loved making it.

And then I could use this mirror to create a new stencil which was the hardest part of it

Interesting. I'd have thought the hardest part would be cutting out the spaces without breaking any of the legs. This task I can only imagine gets harder and more anxious the closer to the end you get.

I have no clue the actual quality on this as I know nothing of woodworking. But it's gorgeous! I can see the inspiration clearly. After just getting home from Universal studios a few days ago. It really feels like it would slot in for what you are aiming for!

The frame looks amazing. Why you decided to use it to hang a picture of a random man holding a phone is beyond me.

How is this made?

Drill, jigsaw, trim router, and then the tight corners by hand with a chisel and sandpaper?

[–] NataliePortland 18 points 1 day ago

You nailed it! I started with a stencil I made from hardboard using a jigsaw. Then router And the tight corners with chisel

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 day ago

Lies. That is not a mirror. That's a god-damned magical portal.

The frame is amazing alone, yet your smile as you admire your work is definitely stealing the show here.

Why do you have a photo of your selfie?

[–] ininewcrow 11 points 1 day ago

Beautiful work ... I also love the big smile on you, the feeling of achievement of making something amazing.

Congratulations

Great work dude!

Absolutely stunning work!

My only nit-pick of this gorgeous creation is the grain orientation of the bottom stretcher being horizontal instead of vertical.

Truly inspiring work! And despite your previous setbacks with this project that smile doesn't look like it's going to leave your face anytime soon lol I will have to give this technique a try sometime.

Thank you!

Ya I don’t love that either but I felt it was necessary for structure.

I’m super proud of it!
