Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:

If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.

Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

I absolutely do not believe this. It sounds to me like they are trying to act like they are enemies again while they work in the background to take control of everything.
Putin is signaling to his adoring fan Trump that Ukraine's special resources "belong" to Russia.
To both Trump and Putin this is not about Ukraine at all.
The crux of the matter is: did Trump wake up about the value of those resources and prefers to permanently claim them for himself? Or will he see it as a great gift to hand them to Putin on a later date so that both can "save face"?
Putin wants the resources and will destroy the identity of Ukraine and make it Russian so it will never leave the flock again. He will also keep trying, in 10 years or more he will keep coming back for the resources. He has done it in 1990, in 2014 and in 2021. But he needs Ukraine to be fully disarmed.
In 1990 he forced Ukraine to give away it's nuclear armaments, later he made it give up the navy that Ukraine was left with when it split from the USSR. In 2014 he saw chance to take parts of Ukraine by force, thinking he could take the rest by subterfuge of having his own soldiers fight anonymously as "breakaway Ukraine rebels" but it failed because Ukraine was still armed well and intent on defending it's identity. 2021 Putin tried again, thinking Ukraine's armaments now were hopelessly outdated and Russia had a lot of "modern" material, his 3-day takeover plan was thwarted by the Ukrainian fighting spirit. And what is worse, it showed that the military might of Russia was a paper tiger, the equipment was not up to snuff to an enemy intent on defending itself, so Russia had to fall back to it's centuries old tactic of overwhelming the enemy with cannon fodder.
But now the limit of reasonability is reached, Putin can not endlessly throw cannonfodder at Ukraine. With all the western weapons far outclassing what it can fabricate and train, Russia has lost the military fight and will turn to political paths. First to keep the conquered Ukrainian lands and designate them as Russia, then have the West lose interest in Ukraine's membership of NATO and perhaps the EU. But still demand the delivery of the resources to Russia. And in about 15 years he'll come with the same excuse again and try to take Ukraine once more.
Russia wants the resources ... In time the gas supplies will have its prices slashed due to the continued growth of renewable energy.
And his adoring fan Trump can and likely will aid him speed it all up if he can use him to have the west withdraw all support.
Trump and Putin breaking up with each other would be best case scenario for Ukraine.
Trump isn't going to send them any aid to actually support them, but I could see him doing it to spite another dictator that he's currently offended by.
Especially if Ukraine agrees to be exploited for minerals out of desperation.
Uncle Joe killed many, many Russian leaders. So, 80 years later ... maybe?
They already have expressed a willingness to do so.

Trump's 24hrs to end the Russo-Ukrainian war are becoming Putin's three days to conquer Ukraine.
Impossible, Trump promised us all he would end the war in 24 hours, likely before even taking office.

No it won't. There's public satellite photography of Russia military equipment reserves. It is a known roughly the quantity how many new pieces can be produced each month. If the west continues to support Ukraine economically and militarily and China stays mostly on the sidelines, Russia's defeat is just a matter of time. They simply can't sustain the war.

A few days ago, Putin was repeating Trump's lines of "never would have happened if Joe Biden didn't steal the election in 2020".
These two are for sure just performing their choreographed dance designed to enthrall and delight the MAGA base. It can't be stressed enough how this dance costs Putin nothing.

And as sad as it is, trump's supporters wouldn't turn on him for that. They'd come up with any excuse in the world and continue to throw their support behind him.
The Orange Menace is impervious to kompromat. You can only blackmail people who have shame, and Asshole in Chief has absolutely none. Whatsoever. He himself said that he could shoot a man in the middle of Times Square and not lose a single vote, which is absolutely true. His voters actually want a shameless criminal in the White House, because this legitimizes their own awful behaviour. I can't think of any kind of kompromat that Putler could use against someone like that.

I read in a previous post that Trump's plan leaked:
The plan requires Ukraine to give up land in Russia’s Kursk region and also to accept Russia’s land grab. European soldiers would also occupy and monitor a demilitarized zone.
Ukraine would also have to agree not to seek membership in NATO
If true, Russia is getting what it wants.
Arguably what Russia seeks is not territory, but to destabilise the Ukraine government and re-establish a puppet state.
Which would mean both sides lose on this deal.
(Not saying it's a good deal.)

Work to have a destabilising leader elected in an opposing country. Succeed and destabilise that country. Realise a destabilised opposing country is worse for your country.

More trivia rambling than anything: we do actually regularly send donkeys and mules into conflict. They're better at handling rough terrain than the vast majority of vehicles, so if you can't send a truck you send people with pack animals.

Because it would be in russias interests? And russia is big enough threat that some military people in europe have started to worry too. They are rearming fast and will likely want to attack more than ukraine. Usa is ruled by traitor and a madman who immidiately started threatening allies, i wouldnt put past them to start dividing western the world amongst themselves like hitler and stalin did. But i hope news like this arent just some ruse by russia, facing them alone will be bad enough. I just hope the threat will be taken seriously by those who make decisions, maybe it wont come to war then.
