It made it to 35 miles, why is he complaining?

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 week ago

Really should just be saying thank you and bet the MF wasn't even wearing a suit when he called customer service.

Coolant is covered for 2 years/34 miles, whichever comes first.

Their brand-new car, their charger, and (evidently) on the spot Tesla says "yeah, this isn't our problem." I can't imagine they expect the person is going to go "Oh, dear." hang up, then pay thousands of dollars to fix whatever broke.

The modern customer hostile corporate environment blows my mind. It's like they actively punish you for doing business with them, how does any of this shit get approved?

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

the more baffling thing is that people just accept it

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago

Even worse, they push back on other customers demanding dignity, as if it were a privilege to be a brand fan

All you need to know about this person is that they named their car "beast". You now know everything else about them.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

i'm gonna start calling my tiny e-scooter "The Beast" and paint it bright pink.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

See, calling a little scooter beast is cute and fun, because you're having fun. Calling a metal monstrosity beast, is not done in fun. The person just screams massive douche.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The only time I saw someone call their truck "Beast" was in Cyberpunk 2077, the owner being a very friendly trans woman.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 days ago

Oh I've met several of that woman irl lol

I bought a used Volvo a week ago, and the dealership gave me seven years of warranty as if the car was new. I'd tell cybertruck owners to suck an egg, but we all know they can't afford it.

Who in their right mind would spend money on one of these comedy fall-apart clown cars?

[–] [email protected] 46 points 1 week ago

Who in their right mind

Not the target audience

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago

His occupation is listed as "real estate", if that answers your question.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The logic, at least in the farsically sad life of these asshats is that their dumpstertruck will become an instant classic and resell for 5x what they paid.

Unfortunately for them, there is not a single scenario where Tesla, Musk, Trump and GOP are not a ghastly episode in American history we all want to leave behind and forget, fast, along with its vulgar icons, making this an instantly 1500% depreciated and hence worthless shitbox.

They think it'll age like the Delorean. Except nobody will pick this disgusting excuse of a car to be featured prominently in a movie. I bet if they made another back to the future movie they'd make Biff drive it.

Reboot of Dumb and Dumber.

Absolute idiots who need the lesson vandals will give them or investors who are banking on this turd to go up in value in a few decades.

[–] Jinx 31 points 1 week ago

That seems the only way these things move, on tow trucks!

ELI5, why does an electric vehicle need liquid coolant?

[–] [email protected] 63 points 1 week ago

Batteries, motors, underlying components get hot. Need cooled.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Batteries get damaged quickly if they overheat, losing efficiency and capacity. Leave your laptop in your car in July for a full day of work and report back.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago

Mmm, spicy pillow.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 week ago

If I had to guess. Motors get hot, gearbox gets hot, battery gets hot. Liquid coolant works better than air cooling alone.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 week ago

Cooling off hot components is one part of it. Keeping the battery warm in cold weather is another.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago

There's a heat pump that keeps the batteries at the optimal temperature and also heats / cools the cabin.

Coolant leak! We have a coolant leak! I can't shut it down. I estimate 2 minutes to a warp core breach.

This fucker is on my turf. I need to start carrying spray paint.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A solution of vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, and salt will instantly rust stainless steel.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Those things are made of 301 stainless. You could sneeze on it and make it rust.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

they are made out of plastic and decorated with glued on 301 sheets.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

Hello neighbor. See you in the paint aisle.

Tesla doesn't even deliver its new vehicles with enough charge to drive from Pensacola to Destin? Lame.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 week ago

Not defending them, but it is normal to store batteries at 40% charge to maximise longevity. That said, no reason they couldn't charge them before delivery.

I don't think we've been to the same Destin. It's been several years since I've been there, but the place was a nice tourist destination.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I used to work at the target there. It's definitely that. But people that live there ruin the vibe.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 week ago

Based on the only person I know who lives there, my cousin, I can confirm that.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago

Destin

it's florida. it's probably a shithole in a sinkhole

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's Floribama. So yeah. Total shit hole.
