“Ate hirm“? Wtf are they censoring?

[–] [email protected] 100 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I believe unnecessary censorship has become a cheap way to increase engagement

[–] [email protected] 34 points 1 month ago

I can*t believe it has come to this.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

It's not even censorship, they replaced ' with *, but it's still for the same reason. Every person who has ever done that, conscious misspelling and censorship for engagement, deserve a lead fist to the face.

That*s the worst part of it

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

You just gotta put it in yourself, like this:

Hi’m

Now you try

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 month ago (1 children)

At this point it seems like they're just throwing around asterisks for ragebait. The algorithm probably figured out that posts containing an asterisk get more engagement, so now they pretty much have to throw it in there to get attention. It's annoying...

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago

I really hope there comes a day where all this nonsense builds up and finally ends with "algorithms" imploding on themselves.

An unrealistic hope, but a hope nonetheless.

But they didn't censor male

Yeah I'm sure it has nothing to do with these two huge animals being locked up in a tiny pool.

Fuck this animal torture carnist bullshit.

[–] [email protected] 42 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Sandtiger sharks cannibalize eachother before they are even born. They're a popular aquarium species and do very well in captivity, including successful captive breeding programs. They very rarely consume their fellow tank mates. Edit : Different species, not a courtship failure, Aquarium staff attributes this to territorial aggression, or an accident bump 'n bite which became a whole meal.

There is also incredible value in having ambassador animals that can inspire the public to care for their natural environment and see them as species worth preserving and making sacrifices for. This animal looks well fed, in good health, and free from spinal deformities that are common with inadequate health and nutrition for this species. I think your concerns are mostly unfounded here.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Yet they are still locked up for the enjoyment of us humans.

People are not inspired to care for their environment, they can watch them in a zoo or aquarium and they don't want to eat less meat/fish and stop ordering junk on Temu.

Some endangered animals can be protected in captivity, which is dumb because we are the reason they are endangered in the first place, but stop putting them on display. Just like the humans species, other animals also do not belong in cages.

A lot of animals in the free world where females eat the males especially after sex or absorb him after is pretty common.

Just figured if you’re gonna be an animal lover you should know this by now.

Funny how it's "inspirational" when the victim’s a man - but we’d all agree it’s a tragedy if the roles were reversed.

[–] [email protected] 51 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (17 children)

Honestly people act shocked that the younger generation of males in the world are conservative but this is what they see on a daily basis.

I'm all for feminism and equality but if you have to put someone down to lift yourself up that's not helpful for anyone.

I'd put a lot more blame on the grifters purposely aiming to radicalise boys

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Radicalisation on one side always leads to radicalisation on the other, ending up with both sides using the other's ridiculous fringe ideas as justification for their own.

This kind of content is what pushes them to those grifters though.

Let's not lie & pretend as if the "radicalization" (as you decided to call it) was created in a vaccuum

Yeah, several pieces of media that brought women prominently to a franchise that was lacking and my thought was that it seemed like a good direction.

Then half the time they go off on how a man would be too dumb, too selfish, or too violent to ever come up with such a good idea as the women. Often making the established male characters uncharacteristically dumber than usual to give the women time to shine.

Have the women, have then be strong, smart, independent. Don't take frequent opportunities to take potshots at men in general. I know media has been doing this to women for decades, and it may be gratifying to turn things around for a change, but it's just not great.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (5 children)

Exactly. It's literally no surprise if you see how the woke left talks about men. Like what do we expect young impressionable boys to do? Lean into that and bear it or listen to the grifter asshats that tell them thats crazy and they are fine? I'm not saying it's correct because it's not, but that's why this happened.

There's a legitimate conversation to be had because of course patriarchical systems oppress men, but you can't expect anyone to listen to that when everyone's first brush with the people who want to change it is shit like this.

Shark: noms a shark
Pattern-seeking brain worm: this says a lot about society
Humans: "this says a lot about society"

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

We live in a shark

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago (3 children)

How "inspirational", now let's reverse genders & see how many of you lose your marbles

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 month ago (3 children)

It's almost like memes are based on context...... The reason it's impactful is because in humans it's rare to see women be the more powerful sex, it's rare to see women kill men. Flipping the genders wouldn't flip the context of the the social norms that the meme is dependent on.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

What's that? nuance? not in my internet
