They exist to make money, not do journalism.

And just like that, I never considered watching ABC ever again.

We're where we are because our media are feckless cowards.

This guy chose to make a stand. Props to him. Hopefully he finds more meaningful employment at an organization that values morality.

Then I guess abc showed their true colors. ~~There are plenty of other news channels~~

I can't think of any [american] news station that isnt owned by a mega-company that supports the construction of the american reich

None on television.

DemocracyNow for headlines.

MSNBC seems alright. Especially Rachel Maddow.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Lord. You have to be kidding, right?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Not really. Enlighten me, please.

There are people on MSNBC I avoid but at the very least it's a good place to find out about stuff that I can research on my own, usually with Ground News. I don't have anything bad to say about Rachel though.

They're the standard bearer for capital L Liberals. They pandered for Biden and Kamala. They maintain the status quo and do for Libs what Fox does for Conservatives.

If I'm saying this and you're thinking to yourself, "what the fuck is this asshole talking about?," you need to learn that Libs are as complicit in getting Trump elected by towing the moderate messaging and not supporting what the majority of people really want.

Libs would rather see a third term with Trump than elect a true representative of the people. To Libs, progressive idealism is cancer, because it would undermine the establishment they so love and protect.

MSNBC is trash. Even Maddow.

They pandered for Biden and Kamala.

Maybe a little? They criticised them when it was appropriate so I mostly disagree.

They maintain the status quo and do for Libs what Fox does for Conservatives.

I disagree. Fox is legit propaganda, MSNBC is pretty factual. They do sprinkle in their opinions which I could do without even though I generally agree with them.

you need to learn that Libs are as complicit in getting Trump elected by towing the moderate messaging and not supporting what the majority of people really want.

Libs are as complicit in getting Trump elected as the right is? Sorry, no. They did fuck up by trying to appeal to people in the center and the right and being them to the left, which MSNBC and their guests did not hesitate to point out.

Libs would rather see a third term with Trump than elect a true representative of the people.

No they would not prefer to see a 3rd term with Trump. If you believe that then I don't think you're paying attention.

To Libs, progressive idealism is cancer, because it would undermine the establishment they so love and protect.

Maybe, maybe not, but we've got 2 choices. I'm going to keep voting against the Republicans.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

I always vote against Republicans. I always vote FOR the people, even if it means supporting the Libs. You are misinformed. Being an MSNBC fan, I am not surprised.

Good luck.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Good luck to you as well.

Just curious, what news source(s) do you consider acceptable?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

We're comparing "similar" alternatives to 2024 ABC News here, no?

Since Terry has been silenced. Let me speak a little bit for him. Trump you are a pathetic Nazi. You and your administration will go down in history as the worst form of human scum that has run this country.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago

I don't believe in a god and yet I still pray every day for Trump's demise and an end to the constant outrage

[–] [email protected] 13 points 2 days ago

Further reason not to give Disney any money.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 3 days ago

Corporate media serves the regime. Support independent media while you still can.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 3 days ago

That seems excessive, they could have just fired him....

[–] 60d 5 points 3 days ago

At least he is become human. I wonder if there are any other humans on network television.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I mean, he's not wrong, but when you represent the brand there are all sorts of restrictions and caveats. :(

[–] grte 30 points 3 days ago (2 children)

We need to push back on the idea that you represent a brand or that brand has any authority over you when off the clock.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 days ago

Good luck; this is textbook fascism and one of its features is that it's totalitarian and will sink its claws into every single aspect of your lives unless you fight back at every level.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

That's the trouble with social media. If I tweeted something with my work account there's a whole bunch of policy guidelines I agreed to in order to make that tweet.

Which is why I don't use a work social media account. :) And when they ask me "Hey, share this on social media!" I'm like "Nope! Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope!"

[–] [email protected] 6 points 3 days ago

Fuck the brand
