I promise y'all's lives will change once you understand that fruit goes with meat. It's really not a radical concept. Pineapple can go on burger, because pineapple can go with basically any meat. put it on some candied bacon, have some with your christmas ham, make a pineapple chutney to top your next steak, idk the food science behind why this shit works but it does.

Sweet and Savoury w/ some acid is a great flavour pairing, bonus points for heat. Some peppers themselves have a decidedly fruity flavour, scotch bonnets and habaneros come to mind, and those are used with meat all the time, citrus + chilis (powdered or fresh) is pretty much the core of almost any marinade I make.

For me? Pineapple + Peameal Bacon + Pickled Jalapeños are a great pizza pairing (also do a balsamic, shallot w/ goat cheese and prosciutto one, gets fresh arugula on it).

If it tastes good, why not?

People out here gate keeping pizzas and hamburgers like they are trying to hold a bar mitzvah at a Burger King.

Pineapple in raclette though? Straight to jail!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think the bromelain would break down the sauce, so that would be a good reason to omit it from the pot. I have never eaten raclette, so I can't provide a deeper opinion.

No sauce or pot involved in raclette (except for pre-preparing stuff like boiled potatoes).

It's basically a specialised hotplate on a table with a bunch of tiny pans. Then you put up a buffet of special cheese and other ingredients on the table and everyone get's to combine them in their own little pan and put it on the hotplate.

So really there is no good reason to ban a specific ingredient, as you can just not use it. It's mostly a joke.

Oh, got it. The first image that popped up makes it look like fondue.

My favorite burger growing up was the "Hawaiian" burger at a restaurant called Islands, it was AMAZING! Fresh grilled pineapple, Swiss, and teriyaki sauce that gets messy in the tastiest way imaginable. They published the recipe online, it's super easy to make at home.

We do something similar at the bar I work at for our Hawaiian burger. Grilled pineapple and Canadian bacon, Swiss, and some BBQ sauce. Easy to make and tastes great!

100% passionately do yes

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

Bacon, pineapple, candied jalepenos, sweet chili mayo. Yeah, that could totally work.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

No, mostly because I don't really like pineapple in general so it just detracts from anything it's added to. I'll still eat stuff with pineapple if that's what's available, but I'd never intentionally get it for myself.

Grape jelly on pizza is heavenly.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Everyone is welcome to enjoy what they enjoy but for me, on a burger

Egg: no Tomato: no Pineapple: no Beetroot: no Sauce: depends on the sauce

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Pineapple, sure. Pineapple bacon beetroot egg ??? What on earth is going on!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

I don't care for pineapple on a burger but a fried egg on a works burger is chef's kiss. The rest of the world is missing out.

Don't knock it until you've tried it. It's magnificent.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

God's own burger.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

100% yes, with the caveat that it has to be fresh, grilled pineapple. Slap a canned pineapple ring on there and baby Jesus will cry.

The big kahuna burger is a mighty tasty burger. Not as good as a royale with cheese though

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

F you, now I need to buy pineapples to get an informed opinion.
