Hitler his party was called National Socialists for a reason. It had nothing to do with socialism, but socialism was incredibly popular at the time, so he hijacked the term.
People conflate socialism with collectivism.

They let fascist propaganda trick them into believing that corporations are socialist because they flew the wrong flags. They would let those same fascists tell them the corporations are their friends now because they fly the right flags. That's what they're paying attention to.
The correct response is, "You are describing worker ownership, which is socialist." They have to learn they're on the wrong side before they'll stop listening to the fascists. They have to be educated, and agree to change the flag in their head, because the right is fundamentally domineering. They won't accidentally make socialism happen, they'll just smash our shit because they hate our flags.
Sorry for the rant but I see this "joke" take people are making in this thread all the time and there's a reason it's a joke.
I've had that conversation. They don't believe me when I say that's socialism. I show them as much evidence as possible and the best case, they believe me in time but start going off about Stalin and Mao, worst case they try to say I'm lying about what socialism is.
I've had them state "I've read marx I know what socialism is" and shut down when I argue Marx was a communist, not a socialist. They cannot believe there's a difference.
People just cannot grasp this concept.
They are delusional and willingly so. Through constant propaganda from a very, very young age they are structurally unallignable with anything against their training. No, you can't convince them with "facts and logic" no you can't just state "yeah and all that's socialism" and have them flip a switch to become a socialist.
They'll agree with each point you make they'll agree with each policy they'll support drastic change but the second you say that word or use the wrong language their pavlovian response kicks in and it's

We should encourage capitalist market growth by subsidizing the Healthcare industry to hook Americans on more frequent health visits to increase their taxable lifespan.
Basically, the whole Healthcare system is currently a la carte. Americans are only paying when they need something. Streaming services have proven the way of the future is with subscription services. Other countries have been doing it for decades. Everyone pays an annual fee and gets access to a vast catalog of medical treatment.
It's fucking nefarious and if Republicans ever find out about it, the for-profit Socialist industry of paying into a company to pay for other people's medical needs would be absolutely doomed. We, as the left, need to be very loud and vocal about how much we do not want healthcare to be a tax-driven subscription model or we'll totally lose our community communist insurance collectives.

If “my team must win” is the only mentality, then how is it so goddamn difficult to get people to vote in their own interest? At that point it’s just a marketing and branding issue.
That's why social ownership is only one step.
I understand the sentiment but this won’t ever happen. It is against the very fabric of how the corporation came about.
