I suspect most will go dark at midnight in the lead mod's timezone, not necessarily 12:00 UTC/GMT

Agreed. Though there was a huge wave at 12:00 UTC, which was kinda weird to watch. Much like watching a car crash happen in front of you, it's awful but you can't look away.

Watch for a huge wave of subreddits going dark at 12:00 AM UTC, which is about twenty minutes from the time I'm writing this comment.

91.6% of subreddits are dark. O.O

That's freaking amazing!

I think that's merely the percentage of the subreddits that pledged to go dark which have gone dark, not out of all subreddits overall.

I feel like reddit going down has made lemmy.ca go down also. Some of my comments aren't posting.

Hmm, that's odd. I haven't seen any issues yet from here with lemmy.ca

It's been working ok other than one single comment on this instance I couldn't reply to. The reply button would change to a waiting symbol and then it wouldn't post even though I could make comments on other threads.

edit: i got a 404 while responding to this thread.

Lemmy is having trouble keeping up with the influx of users migrating from reddit
