While I'm thankful to the politicians we elected and everyone who pushed them to made this happen, I'd like to note what a great example of the type of neoliberal social programs we've come to love the CDCP is. It's not universal, it preserves insurance companies' profits, and it's managed by a private insurance corporation. A chef's kiss! 😘👌 Unfortunately I don't see us moving away from these types of policies until (and if) we rebuild the NDP on its socialist / working class roots, the roots that gave us universal healthcare in the distant past. Until then, we'll keep excluding people from these kinds of programs which decreases the popular support for them and increases the support for gutting them.
Canada's about to be BEGGING America to be the 51st State after THIS Socialism! WHY would you want your TAXES to pay for YOUR Healthy TEETH when INSTEAD you can Pay a CEO MORE to DENY you the Ability to have Healthy TEETH!
Has anyone used this program? Did your dentist treat it like any other insurance?
I've heard from dental professionals that the program isn't ideal, but it's a starting point. It only covers part of the costs, so dentists either have to absorb the remaining expenses or patients end up paying the difference. Plus, it only covers very basic procedures.
Thanks NDP!
They are not even the opposition party. Imagine if they became the majority party. Majority of Canada will be taken care off!
Good. We need more programs like this. It would he nice if dental was just part of our universal Healthcare, but this is a nice alternative
You think your face bones should be treated the same as your other bones? They're different! Because, reasons....
What would be cool is if we funded it with taxes. Given we now spend more in interest on debt than we do our health transfers, its kind of silly to not fund a social program you want to keep in perpetuity.
Fuck yeah
Lisa needs braces!
That's awesome!!
