I never ever want to hear another conservative whine at me about the budget as long as I live. FiScAl ReSpOnSiBiLiTy my ass.

TBH, I'm increasingly convinced that this is yet another in a series of moves overtly intended to destroy the federal government's legitimacy.

Trump is a Russian asset 🤷‍♂️

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Sure, maybe, probably, but even if that is 100% true, I don't think it's the whole story. I think that the interests of the Russian Federation and the interests of our ultra-wealthy sort of accidentally aligned insofar as they both believe they'd be better off with the US federal government deligitimized and destroyed. Whether it works out the way they'd hoped, well, we'll see. History is kind of a funny thing.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Oligarchs run both governments, so yeah, their interests align.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

People fall out of windows all the time, even if they have billions. Clearly, not all of them are aligned.

[–] Revan343 5 points 2 days ago

They don't all have to be; the majority of them are aligned, because those that fall out of alignment...

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They might think so, but they're really not. Billionaires here were much less likely to fall out of windows. We were much more based on laws than a series of buddy systems.

It was better to have a billion dollars than ten billion rubles. We're working to change that.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Only slightly more based on laws. The difference was really neglible (now it is non-existent of course).

Here's a pretty wild idea that just occurred to me. Let's assume that Trump being a Russian asset is far from being the big picture, but a tiny part of it. What if some people have planned something much bigger, and the Trump administration is just one step along the way.

Maybe the goal is to make people rise up against a tyrannical dictator, and tare down the whole administration. Then, something new could rise from the ashes, and that's when you have a unique opportunity to design the whole system to your liking. Consider it a hard reset, where you purge every cache and memory. Well, who would design the new constitution and a new government at that point? Even if it's the people who do that, their opinions can be easily swayed, distorted and guided by social media. What if some people are just waiting for each piece to fall in its place.

Well, I have zero evidence for any of this, so consider it nothing more than food for thought. You could also use that as a prompt for a scifi book if you want.

Nahh dude, don't deflect the blame; Trump is 100% homegrown American stupidity, he's been doing corrupt illegal shit for decades and no one stopped him. Because in the mind of americans, regulating millionaires is "comulist"

No matter how many wikipedia articles you post, Americans elected Trump and enabled trump, and American imperialism enabled the politics that are powering trump. You all get to make your bed and lie on it now.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago (2 children)

That doesn't explain the couple hundred gop Congress members going along with it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Why would you not assume they are all Putin assets? They are all for sale to the highest bidder, and have been so for quite some time. It wasn't Trump who went to Moscow on that 4th of July some years ago, but some of his fellow assets.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

It wasn't Trump who went to Moscow on that 4th of July

God damnit. I had forgotten about that.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago

Might explain more then you think. Those dudes are cheap, like 15k cheap

[–] [email protected] 32 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Was it Susan Colin’s or Murkowski that was saying she voted in favor of the bill knowing it was terrible only because she thought the house would fix it? She knew full well the house wouldn’t do shit but approve it. These people are monsters.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

MSNBC had murkowski saying something like that

[–] nova_ad_vitum 18 points 2 days ago

You will hear it from them again and the intended audience will believe it again.

This has been the Republican game since Reagan

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago

I don't want either party to say it. They have failed

Frustrating that there is not a single word in this article about the massive ICE budget increase.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/ice-budget-big-beautiful-bill/

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 days ago

Trump's 'Big, Beautiful Bill' to give ICE a larger budget than most of the world's militaries

In all, the version of the bill that passed the Senate earlier this week would see the agency receive around $100billion by 2029, $45billion for detention facilities, the same for border wall operations and a further $14billion to fund mass deportations.

This would put ICE’s budget above that of Israel, Italy, Brazil and the Netherlands.

I have no idea who this source is, but it's an interesting headline. https://www.lbc.co.uk/usa/politics/ice-budget-big-beautiful-bill-donald-trump/

[–] OutlierBlue 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There's no way they need a budget that big for just dealing with illegal immigrants. They must be planning on going after other groups too.

LGBT? Democrats? People of Colour? Scientists? Anyone who disagrees with Trump?

We know where this is headed. I'm waiting for the Americans to figure it out before it's too late.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

It is going to be his private SS, only beholden to Trump. He can use it exactly in any way he wants. Besides the disappearings going to massively increase, they will be an armed military force that he can let loose on protestors and anybody considered to be dissidents.

[–] [email protected] 58 points 2 days ago

It was bound to happen, but I'm still sad it did

[–] [email protected] 33 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Don't worry everyone, Trump only has 1296 days left in the office.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

He has just secured 200 billion funding for his own private SS. 2024 already proved how easy it was for them to buy an election. He is not going anywhere.

The tick promises he'll leave after he gets a little blood

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Shit. Do worry then.

[–] [email protected] 45 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I didn't know my disgust could get bigger, but it grew three sizes today.

🎶 You’re a smart one, Mr Grinch!

You really. Are. Infooooooooormed! 🎶

Now they have the funding for the Holocaust 2: El Holocausto (seriously its not funny tho and now is the time to prepare for a fully funded police state)

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 days ago

The answer to the immigration question seems eerily leading to the final solution.

[–] [email protected] 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's almost surprising that Democrats unanimously voted against

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 days ago

It was perfectly safe for them to vote against it knowing it would pass anyway. They get to appear on the right side of things without actually making any sacrifices or hard decisions. If it would have been 50/50, I guarantee we would have seen at least one defection.

President of death is coming to america again. Brace for impact.
