Any potential to do what mstn.ca did and get help with some finding from CIRA?
maybe? they have a much higher user count than here, (+34K i think?), and there could be other issues as well, but I suppose it's something worth looking in to.
I think that would be most ideal. They may also be able to help with governance and non-profit stuff. They're a pretty good organization and open decentralized internet is right up their alley.

Liberapay doesn't take a cut, does the payment processing fee from Stripe get taken from the donation amount before getting sent to you? I'm assuming yes, just want to make sure.
pretty sure Stripe takes a fee of some sort. i'm new to taking donations too.
Off a CA$36.40 donation they took CA$1.36. Not the worst rate.
