Rules and Guidelines

1. No BigotryIncluding racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia.

2. Be CivilArgue in good faith, attack the argument; not the person, and promote a healthy debate. That includes implying violence, threats or wishes of violence and/or death.

3. No PornThis instance is not made to host porn communities. You're free to access porn communities on other instances through your account, but be mindful of Rule 4.

4. Use the NSFW tagUse your common sense: if you wouldn't want this image to show up on your work computer, tag it as such. In comments, use the
spoiler ::: tag for NSFW images, and put a NSFW mention beside links. Do not use NSFW images as your avatar or banner. :::
5. No Ads / SpamThis instance is not there to act as your billboard. If you want to promote your personal work, at least make the effort to be a contributing member of this community. Your account purpose shouldn't be to only advertise, make it natural.

6. Bot accountIf you are the operator of a "bot" account, make sure to flag is as such in the account's settings.

7. Right to privacyDo NOT distribute the personal information of someone else without their consent (aka doxxing). Information that is public domain can be shared, provided it is in good faith.
ex: The official email of an elected official is fair, the private phone number or the real name of a non-public person is NOT.

8. Report abuseThe report function isn't labelled the disagree button. You might not agree with someone, but that doesn't mean what the person says is against the rules. Using it repeately in this fashion will lead to actions being taken against the reporter.

9. ImpersonationDon't make an account with the intent to negatively deceive or defame someone on the fediverse.
ex: Parody of a famous person is okay, submitting outrageous content as appearing like another user, mod or admin isn't.

I know Firefox is late to the game with this feature, but its really useful. For me, im using it to keep a number of tabgroups always open for different aws accounts.

It brings some order to things. Before tab groups, I was having lots of container tabs mixed in with ordinary tabs all over the place and often lost track of what was where.

And its the only browser that has container tabs with tab groups. In chrome, you still share cookies across all tab groups.

I still think its the best browser, at least for my needs.

European stocks gained as investors took stock of a flurry of earnings and the latest tariffs developments. Rheinmetall AG rose 8.5% after topping estimates.

I remember an lrr video in which the actors played US-American versions of themselves or their characters (it could have been commodore hustle or Friday Nights), but I can’t find it anywhere. I remember Kathleen was either Katherine or Katie (or either of the various spellings of those two), and I think there was a joke about Graham’s name being one syllable (but I could be conflating this with another video).

PCBs of two continuous glucose monitors

Continuous glucose meters (CGMs) aren’t just widgets for the wellness crowd. For many, CGMs are real-time feedback machines for the body, offering glucose trendlines that help people rethink how they eat. They allow diabetics to continue their daily life without stabbing their fingertips several times a day, in the most inconvenient places. This video by [Becky Stern] is all about comparing two of the most popular continuous glucose monitors (CGMs): the Abbott Libre 3 and the Dexcom G7.

Both the Libre 3 and the G7 come with spring-loaded applicators and stick to the upper arm. At first glance they seem similar, but the differences run deep. The Libre 3 is the minimalist of both: two plastic discs sandwiching the electronics. The G7, in contrast, features an over-molded shell that suggests a higher production cost, and perhaps, greater robustness. The G7 needs a button push to engage, which users describe as slightly clumsy compared to the Libre’s simpler poke-and-go design. The nuance: G7’s ten-day lifespan means more waste than the fourteen-day Libre, yet the former allows for longer submersion in water, if that’s your passion.

While these devices are primarily intended for people with diabetes, they’ve quietly been adopted by a growing tribe of biohackers and curious minds who are eager to explore their own metabolic quirks. In February, we featured a dissection of the Stelo CGM, cracking open its secrets layer by layer.

The surprise discovery of a huge cloud of molecular gas — the stuff that forms stars — just 300 light-years away is opening up new ways to study the conditions that enable star birth.

Stars form from collapsing clouds of molecular gas. We see this in the likes of the Orion Nebula, which gets energized by hot ultraviolet radiation of the young stars born within. However, finding molecular clouds before they begin producing stars is more difficult.

Such clouds are predominantly made from molecular hydrogen gas, which, when it isn't being energized by starlight, is very faint — almost invisible. (Atomic hydrogen, on the other hand, is easily detectable by radio telescopes). Astronomers usually use radio telescopes to detect carbon monoxide, which is available in much lower quantities in molecular clouds, as a proxy.

Was out solo protesting on a street corner. My sign said "Donald Trump Is A Pedophile". This older hippy looking dude in a white robe and sandals and long hair and beard and Hella tattoos walks up. Had a phone on a stick. Asks me if he could "take a shot". I thought he was being friendly so I was like "sure bro" and complimented his tattoos.

Only for him to go "What do you have to say for yourself misusing free speach to spread such disgusting lies".

So I go "Donald Trump has raped multiple children. He's been credibly accused by several. He was best friends with Epstien. Bragged about it. Said he knew he was into under aged girls. He's all over the flight logs. Admitted to peeping on children at his beauty pagents. The list goes on and on."

And he goes like "Lies, he was just at a couple of the same parties, you're evil trying to smear him as a pedo" blah blah blah

At this point I realize there is no productive conversation to be had. So I held up one finger like "wait a sec" put my sign down. Walked over to my backpack. He thought I was like getting evidence or something and was like "you can Google whatever you want its all made up lies".

But what I did was pull out my portable speaker. Connected my phone to it. And put on "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" on full blast. Walked back over to him. Sang along. Shouting the chorus as loud as I could right in his face.

He goes like "This isn't spreading the light. There is nothing loving about this. This is evil and demonic"

And I just went "Hell yeah it is bro HAIL SATAN" and stuck out my tounge and did the devils horns.

He kept trying to say shit and I kept blasting nazi punks fuck off until eventually he left. Just refused to engage, take him seriously, only nazi punks fuck off. It was genuinely highly affective at de-escalating and getting him to go away. Denied him everything he wanted out of me while simultaneously allowing me to push back.

Anyway the main reason I'm posting, is because he was recording the entire encounter and I DESPERATELY want a copy of the video. He's for sure going to post it somewhere. If anyone sees it PLEASE DM ME. I was wearing a purple crop top that said "This Is America Bitch We Fucking Hate Nazi Scum In This Country" with black and white short shorts if that helps you ID the video. It must be floating around somewhere and I NEED it 😩

I'm the original author of the Rust keepass crate and wanted to prototype whether it would be possible to build a cross-platform password manager using that crate, Tauri, and Vue.js. It turns out, it is!

I have also come up with a way to compile the keepass crate to WebAssembly, so that I can additionally deploy the app to a web browser without any installation needed. See the architecture page in the docs how that is done.

The app is now working on 4 / 5 platforms that Tauri supports, with only iOS missing since I don't own an iPhone nor an Apple Developer account.

The feature set is still pretty barebones, but the hard parts of decrypting databases, listing entries, etc. are all working, so I wanted to share the proof-of-concept to gather feedback and gauge interest in building this out further.

If are an Android user and you would like help me release OmniKee on Google Play, please PM me an E-mail address associated with your Google account and I can add you to the closed test. I will need 12 testers signed up for a test for 14 days to get the permissions to fully release.
