3. No PornThis instance is not made to host porn communities. You're free to access porn communities on other instances through your account, but be mindful of Rule 4.

4. Use the NSFW tagUse your common sense: if you wouldn't want this image to show up on your work computer, tag it as such. In comments, use the

7. Right to privacyDo NOT distribute the personal information of someone else without their consent (aka doxxing). Information that is public domain can be shared, provided it is in good faith.
ex: The official email of an elected official is fair, the private phone number or the real name of a non-public person is NOT.

8. Report abuseThe report function isn't labelled the disagree button. You might not agree with someone, but that doesn't mean what the person says is against the rules. Using it repeately in this fashion will lead to actions being taken against the reporter.

9. ImpersonationDon't make an account with the intent to negatively deceive or defame someone on the fediverse.
ex: Parody of a famous person is okay, submitting outrageous content as appearing like another user, mod or admin isn't.
10. HarassmentDon't pursue someone across communities and reply / downvote someone repeatedly on all the posts or comments they make. If they annoy you that much, the block feature is your friend.
11. Alt-accountsThe use of alt-accounts is permitted, however abusing them to engage in vote manipulation, ban evasion or any other disruptive behaviors are not permitted.

We’ve done it, we got rid of another soulless right wing politician!

Peter Dutton first made his party lose this election and now also lost his own seat much like Pierre Pullover

We’ve still got a government that green-lit new coal power plants in it’s last term, screwed over the Aboriginal community with a poorly run referendum, and still doesn’t give a shit about climate change, but baby steps hey.

Dracula 2000 is a strange movie. The cast was made up of big names at the time, with Gerard Butler, Jonny Lee Miller, Christopher Plummer, Omar Epps, Nathan Fillion, Jeri Ryan, and the pop singer Vitamin C. Those might not be "A-list" names, but they're all pretty well known. Also, I really liked the reveal in this movie that Dracula was actually

spoilerJudas Iscariot
which made for interesting explanations of standard vampire lore like:
spoilerhatred of Christianity specifically (not just all religion)
and
spoileraversion to silver
Those were really cool ideas and a fun twist on vampire lore.

And yet, there's something about this movie that just feels off. Maybe it's the writing, but most of this movie feels like a B-movie horror despite the wide theatrical release and (relatively) big name cast. I still really enjoy the movie, but I can see its flaws and wouldn't argue with anyone who didn't enjoy it.

Oddly enough, despite really enjoying this movie, I've never bothered to watch any of the sequels:

I think my problem is that the sequels were direct-to-video and none of the previous cast returned so there's really no point in watching them. As far as I can tell, there's nothing that actually links them to the first movie.

Anyway, here's a trailer for Dracula 2000. You can watch it now on Pluto.

Police in Hong Kong have arrested the father and brother of US-based pro-democracy activist Anna Kwok for allegedly helping with her finances, according to media reports.

It is the first time the relatives of an "absconder" have been charged under the territory's security law, Reuters news agency said.

The authorities accused Ms Kwok, 26, of breaching Hong Kong's national security laws after participating in pro-democracy protests in 2019.

She fled the territory in 2020 and now serves as the Executive Director of the Hong Kong Democracy Council (HKDC), an organisation based in Washington DC.

Police said they had arrested two men aged 35 and 68 on suspicion of handling "funds or other financial assets" belonging to Kwok, Reuters said.

Local media later identified the two men as relatives of Ms Kwok, citing police sources.

In 2023, Hong Kong placed a bounty on the heads of several pro-democracy activists - including Ms Kwok - who had fled the territory.

[...]

At the time, Ms Kwok said the bounty was aimed at intimidating her and her fellow activists.

"That's exactly the kind of thing the Hong Kong government and the Chinese Communist party would do - which is to intimidate people into not doing anything, silencing them," she told BBC's Newshour at the time.

The former British colony became a special administrative region of China in 1997, when Britain's 99-year lease of the New Territories, north of Hong Kong island, expired.

I pray I do not offend by borrowing @[email protected] excellent meme-work. And I'm not proficient at superimposing images, so kindly accept my apologies.

So the centre-left party campaigned on not following in President Drink Bleach's footsteps and won. Predictable, because Australians are awesome.

Meanwhile, as for the AU moron and the comparisons to his counterpart, PP, the Associated Press had this to say:

Dutton had earlier conceded his alliance of conservative parties had been defeated at the election and that he had lost his own parliamentary seat that he had held for 24 years.

Dutton’s plight parallels that of Canada’s last opposition leader, Pierre Poilievre, who lost his seat after Trump declared economic war on the U.S. neighbor to the north. Poilievre had previously been regarded as a shoo-in to become Canada’s next prime minister and shepherd his Conservative Party back into power for the first time in a decade.
