a New York Times/Siena College poll of registered voters on Friday found that Trump’s approval rating is 42%, and just 29% among independent voters. More than half of voters said Trump is “exceeding the powers available to him”, and 59% of respondents said the president’s second term has been “scary”

I cannot imagine being in the headspace where you would have EVER trusted this washed up game show host.

If America was a sane place with a sane people they would have dragged Trump out of the White House by his ear the moment they began sending immigrants, even legal ones, to concentration camps. But that didn't happen.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

If it were a sane place, Trump would never have made it to the white house in the first place. We're so far beyond any semblance of sane.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago

And rest of the world has lost their hopes for America.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And none of this matters because of by some miracle this fascist doesn't fascist this country, the next, more competent fascist from the fascist party will take to where Trump left off because they'll always vote the hard R.

It's all about emotions and in-group belonging. All of us are subject to that, to some extent. But for some people it's the dominant force in their lives. I don't know how to fix that, because it seems kind of deeply baked in.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Maybe the left needs more flag waving and American exceptionalism. While dumb, it tickles the in-group need; if pageantry is enough to sway some large portion of the population towards a better future then maybe it’s worthwhile.

The fact they didn’t lose faith after January 6th makes them beyond stupid

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The fact they elected him a second time...

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Nah. The first time was beyond stupid. The second time is an Idiocracy level dystopia.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Instead of putting him in prison.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The fact they had any is the first place is beyond me.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

this is the correct version of normal… remember how yall felt in 2016: that is normal, and everything beyond then has been a shifted, perverse version of normal that they’ve forced onto you

[–] [email protected] 1 points 12 hours ago

I remember 2016 being the 'Worst Year Ever' because Prince, David Bowie and Carrie Fisher, amongst others, died. What sweet, summer children we all were.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago

Despite any misgivings republicans might say for a poll, had they asked if they would rather have a democrat in office, the pool would be 90% plus in favor of Trump. It’s simply the way they ask the questions.

These people can try to pretend they are hemming and hawing over these things, but as long as it is their guy doing it, they are ok with it.

Trump is killing people and kids and the best they can do is say they don’t think he is focusing on the right things and these surveys are somehow supposed to show how badly he is doing. These people don’t give a shit and are complicit. They think they are absolved by not approving.

It’s all bullshit.

I'm afraid most americans have a learning disability.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

It's not just Americans. The world has varying degrees of stupid. We've just allowed the morons to have a voice, which was a mistake.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

And be in power.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago

I gave up hope for a lot of people when they saw his lifetime of documented lies, theft, and fraud and thought they could trust him.

[–] [email protected] 130 points 3 days ago (6 children)

It’s really weird to know that when one man dies, the world will get significantly better for billions of other people.

Can you imagine how paranoid you’d be if you were that man ?

Vance was sent to reap the pope soul

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You think the nazi machine will stop with his death?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, as Americans we’re very fixated on our particular fascist - but there’s still Erdoğan, Lukashenko, Orban, Bukele, Putin…

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Even within the US, there are hundreds of influential enablers who will simply move on to the next puppet

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

It won't have the same pilot. So while the machine won't stop, it'll have a harder time running over everything. Then is the best time to disable and dismantle it. (Regarding the death of the head fascist, specifically)

[–] [email protected] 53 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Main problem with the biggest nations is that they are ruled by old men that know they are going to die soon anyway.

China, Russia, US all have old leaders who try to write their name in history books by any means necessary. They do not fear death, since they know it’s not far whatever they do.

In most countries nations have a lower limit of age that a leader must be, they also should have an upper limit.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

and the upper limit should be whatever “must live with the consequences of their actions” amounts to rather than some arbitrary retirement line

Hitlar could imagine and he was topped off on steroids at the end, he was tweaking like there was literally no tomorrow

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Have you looked at his doctor's notes, motherfucker was probably on whatever the doctor could get his hands on possibly including random shit he found under the sink. Steroids, meth, aspirin mixed together with a shot of Jack Daniels wouldnt even phase Hitler at the end.

[–] NotSteve_ 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

It’s not just Trump. Trump could die tomorrow and nothing would change because American billionaires still want to see the collapse of the west so they can mould it into their vision of techo-feudalism.

Trump dying would just mean JD Vance gets in and he would carry on with the same goal but with slightly more coherence. The USA needs to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Nah, MAGA is a cult of personality, and when he dies, MAGA will inevitably die, too. They'll try to keep it alive, but the loyalty was 100% to Trump, and there is no viable second choice, no matter how much they delude themselves that they will be the chosen successor.

When HitlerPig assumes room temperature, the knives will come out, and Vance, Jr, Stephen "PeeWee Himmler" Miller, Steve "Unwiped Asshole"Bannon, Josh "Running Man" Hawley, Chuck "Get Off My" Grassley, Marjorie "Battletoad" Greene, and a thousand others will compete in a Battle Royale that will be fun to watch.

Enough to start the process of eliminating the second amendment. I would imagine he has floated that a couple of times.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

Just another month, when the shelves will be empty.

[–] Franklin 34 points 3 days ago (1 children)

i don't fucking believe it for a second, every maga toting American I know goes on and on about how they still believe in Trump.

if Americans were swayed by evidence Trump would not have a second term

The minute a convicted felon won the election, made me lose any trust I ever had in this type of reporting.

[–] eurisko 30 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The low low rating of... checks note 40 something percent? How is it not rock-bottom already ? Imagine a stock-market crash under Biden. He'd be already impeached and looking for a job.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago

All these ‘it’s dropping!’ articles are just bullshit. It’s been in the 42-46% pretty much since he took office.

I think this is just rhetoric aimed at the left. ‘See, his popularity is fading! No need to worry and definitely no need to do anything about him!’

Kinda like the right gets ‘See, everyone loves him; he won on the popular vote and now he’s doing all the things you wanted him to! Remember to support him unconditionally!’

[–] [email protected] 18 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

It's not like this is unexpected for anyone with any sort of decent long term memory. He was a giant fuck up his first time around as well. And before that has tanked nearly every business he has been in charge of. To the point that they couldn't survive without regular cash infusions from shady eastern European money men.

If his older brother hadn't had a conscious his own father would have abandoned him in a prep school.

Not fucking fast enough. Should been gone week 1 and ready to have a public treason processing session

[–] [email protected] 22 points 3 days ago (1 children)

As if his handling of COVID wasn’t a clear indication about who he really fought for. That whole thing was a total layup for his administration, and he absolutely fucked it at every conceivable opportunity. He made it political and caused who knows how many people to die because he had to be completely contradictory to the experts in the field whenever possible.

Absolutely mind boggling that people would give him the keys again. And that’s ignoring the mountain of other inconceivable shit he went out of his way to engage in. You remember, firing investigators investigating him, the felonies, the insurrection, the rape, blackmailing Ukraine to make false investigations against a political opponent, the unforced Russian propaganda, the profiting of hosting at his properties, the lies about Haitians, the pussy grabbing thing, the constant bullshit, the hiring fucking dolts, the crypto laundering, lying about the election, lying about nearly goddamned everything, the …

Our president folks, elected again. JFC

registered voters

I wonder how many of them had the chance to stop this shit but didn’t vote.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Way too many. Especially considering how early voting was widely available

That's because he isn't losing his core constituency and the "displeased" republicans/independents will continue to vote R each election.
