Cool as a tech piece I guess and a 'look at this, and my skills'. Man's definitely skilled.

But just get an electric motorcycle if you want to be eco-friendly.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 hours ago

I would say "electric motorcycle doesn't have a roof, meaning no cover from the elements" but that guy can't roll up the windows so he's probably not worried about that.

Besides, are their cheap electric motorcycles? I feel like a used Nissan Leaf would be a better form of transit and eco friendly.

Lv. 3 Pidgey used Gust

It's super effective!

Fiat Panda has fainted!

[–] Snowpix 3 points 10 hours ago

Pidgey gained 39 EXP. Points!

Pidgey grew to lv. 4!

Wtf is the title on about. Its an art project and absurdly impractical as a car.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Almost like all the things mentioned in the title are brought together in the art he made. I don't remember the title saying practical car alternative.

He took an old car. Modernized it. Hence making something old and sustaining it into modernity.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 19 hours ago

Part of sustainability is being content with less and this art can be seen as a literal embodiment of that ethos.

How does that not tip over when you turn?

[–] [email protected] 65 points 1 day ago

Just stick the leg out the door in tight turns

[–] [email protected] 38 points 1 day ago

That's the neat part—you don't [turn].

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

By keeping the speeds low.

From the article:

"Power comes from a modest electric motor, thought to be sourced from an e scooter and powered by a 24 V battery, pushing the car to about 15 km/h (9 mph) with an approximate 25 km (15 mi) range."

[–] Snowpix 4 points 10 hours ago

That's even slower than my actual e-scooter... no thanks.

People doing this are mad. Fucking insane.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago

I'm surprised it didn't fall over when he opened the door

[–] OutlierBlue 7 points 1 day ago

Yeah, a motorcycle tilts as you turn so you stay stable. This looks like it would just fall over.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commuter_Cars_Tango

Not sure, but this is an example of an incredibly narrow car that had a pretty reasonable top speed

Some of the claims seem... un reasonable but it would have to be relatively stable to hit highway speeds

[–] [email protected] 4 points 20 hours ago

Someday the car brains might invent bicycles, at this rate.

[–] [email protected] 39 points 1 day ago

He turned a 1993 Fiat Panda into a 1993 Flat Panda.

[–] [email protected] 33 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Uplifting? Why?

Despite being too narrow for legal road use and only offering toy car speeds

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

OP just spams articles utubepublisher dot in

It’s bot posted crap and people are blindly engaging with it. Lemmy is going to end up like Reddit, I fear.

[–] Snowpix 3 points 10 hours ago

No comment history, and only posts content from a few sites. Definitely fishy.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

The bar is pretty low these days. I'll accept it.

[–] hellfire103 13 points 1 day ago

Not to mention hilarity. Cool project though.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago

Electric bobsled more like. I would have the fear of god in me for any turn faster than 10km/h. Straight paths or banked turns would be fun though.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 day ago

Neat, but wrong com: This thing is not road legal or practical.

Ride a bike, walk, or take public transport if you want sustainable transportation!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago

Looks like the kind of thing you'd drive in a parade.

Every once in a while the driver's feet come out the bottom, he reaches his hands out the windows, and he picks the car up like it's a dress being kept out of a puddle.

[–] hperrin 1 points 20 hours ago

Now drive it over a slightly slanted road.

So glad I was not the only one who saw that and immediately heard "Mike Wazowski!" in my head.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

For a solid 5 seconds I thought the JPEG rendered wrong

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Why is this here?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

It has the speed of a toy car...

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago (2 children)

How the hell does that not just tip over taking a turn?

Can't watch but the thumbnail showing the car biffing it after losing a front wheel tells me that Robin wasn't very reliant. Then again, it's Top Gear. That might have been one of the guys' fault. 🤔

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

Then again, it’s Top Gear. That might have been one of the guys’ fault. 🤔

TV magic:

The Robin used by Jeremy Clarkson, the Stig and Ken Block had the differential modified to allow the car to roll over more easily. The car also had unequal sized wheels fitted creating an imbalance toward the driver's side.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Iirc the top gear one was rolled on purpose, but they didn't have to try very hard.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Too slow. Lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is this a joke? First minor accident and that dude is toast. This is a guy fucking around not creating the next great invention

[–] [email protected] 1 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

This car would do fine in cities that primarily commute with motorcycles and bicycles.

The fact this car would be toast in some countries speaks more to its car dependency infrastructure, creeping vehicle sizes, dangerously high front end heights, and extraneous emotional support trucks.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 22 hours ago

It would flip onto it's side the first time you tried to turn at all.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Clarkson will be proud.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 20 hours ago

Coffin shaped so he can be buried in it with no fuss over prep

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Anyone ever had nostalgia for a Fiat Panda?
