Rules and Guidelines

1. No BigotryIncluding racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia.

2. Be CivilArgue in good faith, attack the argument; not the person, and promote a healthy debate. That includes implying violence, threats or wishes of violence and/or death.

3. No PornThis instance is not made to host porn communities. You're free to access porn communities on other instances through your account, but be mindful of Rule 4.

4. Use the NSFW tagUse your common sense: if you wouldn't want this image to show up on your work computer, tag it as such. In comments, use the
spoiler ::: tag for NSFW images, and put a NSFW mention beside links. Do not use NSFW images as your avatar or banner. :::
5. No Ads / SpamThis instance is not there to act as your billboard. If you want to promote your personal work, at least make the effort to be a contributing member of this community. Your account purpose shouldn't be to only advertise, make it natural.

6. Bot accountIf you are the operator of a "bot" account, make sure to flag is as such in the account's settings.

7. Right to privacyDo NOT distribute the personal information of someone else without their consent (aka doxxing). Information that is public domain can be shared, provided it is in good faith.
ex: The official email of an elected official is fair, the private phone number or the real name of a non-public person is NOT.

8. Report abuseThe report function isn't labelled the disagree button. You might not agree with someone, but that doesn't mean what the person says is against the rules. Using it repeately in this fashion will lead to actions being taken against the reporter.

9. ImpersonationDon't make an account with the intent to negatively deceive or defame someone on the fediverse.
ex: Parody of a famous person is okay, submitting outrageous content as appearing like another user, mod or admin isn't.

Virginia Giuffre, who was sexually abused by Epstein, said British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell recruited her as a teenager to be exploited by Epstein when she worked at Mar-a-Lago.

The Guardian’s review of records found:

  • Out of nine “assault” and “impeding” felony cases the justice department filed immediately after the start of the protests and promoted by the attorney general, Pam Bondi, prosecutors dismissed seven of them soon after filing the charges.
  • In reports that led to the detention and prosecution of at least five demonstrators, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents made false statements about the sequence of events and misrepresented incidents captured on video.
  • One DHS agent accused a protester of shoving an officer, when footage appeared to show the opposite: the officer forcefully pushed the protester.
  • One indictment named the wrong defendant, a stunning error that has jeopardized one of the government’s most high-profile cases.

“When I see felonies dismissed, that tells me either the federal officers have filed affidavits that are not truthful and that has been uncovered, or US attorneys reviewing the cases realize the evidence does not support the charges,” said Cristine Soto DeBerry, a former California state prosecutor who is now director of Prosecutors Alliance Action, a criminal justice reform group.

In May, a woman in Kansas sued Chaturbate, claiming that it was the site’s fault that her teenage son found her old laptop unlocked in a closet and used it to access porn without age verification in place.

Sounds like a parenting problem to me, but go ahead and blame porn. People like this should have to pay the legal fees of the defendants. Would anti-slapp (or whatever it’s called) apply here?

Electrolytes (self.buycanadian)

I am still looking for something to replace LMNT.

I found Insaltd and that would be a good option but while they are a Canadian company they produce the electrolytes in the USA. I contacted a while ago about it and they said it’s too hard to get them manufactured in Canada. When I checked with them again recently they didn’t even reply.

I also tried Rock Canada Hydration which is made in Canada however they really don’t mix well (even the powder is super uneven when scooping) or taste good.

Does anybody know any other brand to try? I see a lot but most have a lot of “extras” (vitamins, etc) in them or just have 200mg sodium. I really look for a replacement of LMNT not something like what Vega or Organika offer.

Austria's Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger said in an interview with Die Welt that Trump was ready to "hand over" Crimea and parts of eastern Ukraine to Russian President Vladimir Putin. But Putin chose to keep fighting.

The Minister said the situation is clear: Ukraine wants peace, while Russia does not. Putin would have already started negotiations to end the war if he were truly interested in peace.

Since anyone can put anything they want on their servers, it seems like a lot of evidence could be thrown out in court cases if access to that information is not strictly monitored and audited to make sure the owners aren't removing or adding data.

Does anyone know of industry-standard practices to ensure that data on servers is not being manipulated in a way to protect or harm users?

I recently integrated self-hosted Ollama with Home Assistant and it's pretty cool.

I'd like to also be able to ask the Home Assistant Assist things like "What movies are playing in MyCity?" and have the model in Ollama search the web and summarize the results. I use Open-WebUI as a frontend for Ollama and it can do that, but I can't see how configure HA's Assist to do it.

Has anyone done this?

Another example would be to ask "what's the weather today?", and I realize that HA has a weather integration built in and thus I wouldn't need Ollama to search the web for results. Is there a web search integration for HA, so that any question (like "what movies are playing") could be passed to it?

My ultimate goal is to be able to ask questions about the world (i.e., search the web and summarize the results) and control Home Assistant devices. It doesn't have to be HA's Assist, but if I were to use Open-WebUI* for example, I'd have to come up with a way to link my audio-listening devices to it. It also doesn't have to be one "entity", but it should "feel like" one entity to the user (i.e., I don't want to have to speak to a different device or have a different wakeword to ask about the world than I do to control Home Assistant).

*Open-WebUI has integrations to control Home Assistant.
